Various gambling news from Europe has emerged this week. For starters, the first news comes from the Danish market. Denmark has recently legalized and regulated its online gambling market. As a result, it has deemed any advertising carried out by unregulated and unlicensed gambling operators to be against the law. This ban includes any printed and digital advertisements. It also includes any information about the name of the website or any contact information. This prohibition has been stated through an advisory that was posted on the website of the Danish regulator. It also included that any unregulated and unlicensed operators who will not comply with these rules will be penalized.

Domain names on the Internet are about to get much more varied and creative. Soon websites will not just end in the few familiar suffixes like “com” or “edu,” but could end in things like “.movie” or ”.lawyer” or “.lol.”

On Wednesday, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization tasked with regulating Internet domain names, released a list detailing who has applied for new suffixes, also known as top-level domains (TLD). This is the third major expansion ICANN has allowed of domain name suffixes, in addition to a few others that have been allowed on an ad hoc basis. The new system will streamline the application process and allow for up to 1,000 new domain suffixes a year.

The application process allowed companies to apply for their own brand name to use as their domain suffix name. For instance, Apple applied for the “.apple” suffix. Amazon applies for 76 names including “.amazon” and “.zappos.” Google applied for over 100 suffixes, including “.google” and “.youtube,” as well as “.lol,” and “.book.”

An interesting development related to the world of online gaming is that four groups applied for domain names that would end in “.poker.” The companies that applied for the “.poker” suffix are U.S.-based Binky Mill, LLC and Dot Poker, LLC as well as European-based dot Poker Limited and Afilias Domains No. 5. Limited.

Now that the initial list of applicants for TLD’s has been released, the public will have 60 days to comment. This time period will allow for companies and organizations to see whether others’ applications conflict with their interests or their intellectual property. After conflicts are resolved, there will be an appeals process. The new addresses likely will not launch until next year.

It remains to be seen whether these new domain extensions will become popular. Some companies may be able to capitalize on the marketing opportunities presented by the new TLD’s and other generic TLD’s that could become much more common. In any event, domain names are surely going to be more creative starting very soon.

Pop star Lady Gaga was forced to unveil her first perfume on Twitter after photos of the bottle leaked online.

Pictures of the "Poker Face" star's first fragrance, Fame, surfaced online after which she had to tell her fans all about the scent and share her own pictures of the bottle and packaging, reported Contactmusic.

"Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked. Oh you fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you," Gaga said.

When one follower asked if she plans to release a men's version, Gaga added, "My perfume was designed for women, but a lot of my gay (male) friends wear it."

Fame, which will go on sale later this summer, contains notes of "belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops". :1orglaugh

Jennifer Lopez has definitely kept her name in the news with a music renaissance and a high-profile spot as a judge on American Idol, so her professional career is back to where it once was. Her personal life has also seemed to recover nicely from her divorce from Marc Anthony and you know you have a good thing going when you have to refute rumors that you’re engaged.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet Entertainment Props!

Lopez and Anthony split last year and Lopez has since taken up with Casper Smart, a backup dancer who is 18 years younger than the 42-year-old (who will be 43 on July 24th). Although, it should be said she still takes very good care of herself. The two started seeing each other last fall and things have gotten serious to the point that websites have started rumors that the two are engaged. Lopez has since come out with a statement on her website saying that the rumors are untrue but she does appear to be happy with Smart, who will serve as the choreographer of her tour later this year.

Lopez doesn’t even really talk about her relationship with Smart in interviews, perhaps scaling back on letting the media into that side of her life after relationships with Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Ben Affleck and Anthony (the latter two were marriages).

Will Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart get engaged in 2012?
Yes 5/1
No 1/8

Bovada odds makers feel as though Lopez is true to her word and they have released odds of 1/8 that she will not be engaged in 2012 but there is a tasty 5/1 that she will and it could go either way. Given her track record, it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to think that Lopez would get married again, but it could also go the other way and she may want to take it extra slow after her past. You’ll surely hear about it if Lopez decides to tie the knot again.

This week there was news from two US states on the progress of online gambling regulation. The news from California was negative, whereas the news from Delaware was positive.

In a move that surprised many industry watchers the Californian online poker legalization bill was without explanation removed from the agenda of the Senate Governmental Organization Committee before it could be debated. Now more details on why this was done are filtering through. The Senate Bill 1463 was sponsored by Senator Rod Wright, who is also the chairman of the committee. Wright felt that the bill did not have enough votes to get passed and thought it prudent to withdraw rather than be defeated. This way the bill survives and can be reintroduced for discussion later on.

Ryan Seacrest has managed to carve out a nice career for himself as his job as host on American Idol has opened the door for a lot of different opportunities. He has since gone on to take over for the late and great Dick Clark on the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show, and he has a number of other side projects that he has rolling at any given time, taking the title of executive producer for a few shows; Keeping Up With The Kardashians is just one. It has also allowed him to meet his current girlfriend, who could become his wife soon, if she has her wish.

Julianne Hough is known for being a professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars, which she has won twice and she also has begun a country music career with a #1 album. The 23-year-old started dating the 37-year-old Seacrest in the spring of 2010 and the two have been together ever since, and now it is really starting to get serious as Hough revealed in an interview that she would like to get married soon and even her family has started to ask questions. No pressure, Mr. Seacrest….no pressure at all.

Will Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough get engaged in 2012?
Yes -110
No -130

Bovada Sportsbook has set odds with the question, “will Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough get engaged by the end of 2012” is being evaluated with a “yes” at -110, and a “no” at -130. Those are close odds for a question that usually has a much wider spread, but neither has been married before, Seacrest could be looking to settle down (he hasn’t responded publically to the question yet) and they could become a power couple in Hollywood. You shouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if Seacrest and Hough announce that they’ll walk down the aisle by the end of the year.

A London conference on internet gambling yesterday heard that the main threat to gambling in society today is from ‘social gambling’.

Charles Cohen, CEO of mobile gambling company Probability, repudiated the views of previous speakers who had voiced concerns at the growth of illegal gambling. Mr. Cohen told 100 delegates at the Westminster eForum on online gambling that a bigger threat came from the ‘apps’ available on Facebook which offered casino games.

You probably haven’t heard much about this, but the same Obama Justice Department that is pushing to deny states the right to define marriage (by opposing the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act) is now pushing to diminish the ability of states to regulate gambling.

In years past, Congress took action to stop the spread of gambling across state lines with legislation such as the Wire Act and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. All along, Congress’ position has been clear and consistent that it opposes allowing technology to be used to circumvent individual state gambling laws.

Enter the Obama Justice Department, which this past December quietly issued a decision interpreting these acts of Congress “not” to apply to anything other than sports betting.

Internet gambling in New Jersey has moved a step closer to reality.

An Assembly panel approved the proposal Monday. The bill now needs to be voted on by the full Assembly and Senate, but those votes have not yet been scheduled.

As it currently stands, the bill would allow Atlantic City casinos to accept Internet bets from gamblers in other states, as long as such activity is consistent with federal law.

New Jersey is moving rapidly to increase the number and types of legalized gambling it offers.

If America plans to expand gambling in any form, especially through the approval of online gambling, Delaware wants to be part of the action.

The state’s lawmakers have approved a bill authorizing online betting in Delaware. The bill also expands the keno playing beyond the state’s three licensed casinos. Keno would be permitted in an estimated 100 new sites while wagering on NFL games would be licensed in 20 new sites other than the existing casinos.

The bill, according to its chief sponsor, represents “the next logical step” in the evolution of the gambling industry in Delaware. Rep. John Viola noted that other states are looking to implement online gambling in the wake of a U.S. Justice Department determination late last year that federal law does not preclude in-state betting online, as long as it does not involve gambling on sports.

The United States general election often boils down to the most likeable person on the ballot. President Barack Obama would win a “likeability” contest over Mitt Romney of the Republican Party, no contest, but you also have to offer voters something and the President has reached out to the Latino community to do exactly that.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet on politics today.

President Obama has recently decided to help out as many as 800,000 illegal immigrants by extending their administration relief. In a poll done shortly after the decision, 49% of Latinos said that this would make them more enthusiastic about voting to re-elect Obama, while 14% said it would make them less enthusiastic. The President suffered a drop among the Latino vote as some citizens have complained about the number of immigrants that have been deported under Obama and this has clearly won back some voters.

Meanwhile, the Republicans haven’t come out and officially opposed the decision but Romney has asked immigrants to leave the country on their own accord and that hasn’t sat well with Latinos. 59% of that demographic said that would make them less enthusiastic about voting for Romney.

2012 US Presidential Election - Winning Party
Democrats -155
Republicans +125

The immigration topic is going to be a hot-button issue throughout the election campaign and the poll took places in Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Colorado and Virginia, five states that have high Latino constituencies. President Obama is definitely a favorite of a more diverse base of voters and this announcement can only help. The two party leaders will speak to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials this week and Romney will have to answer for his statement, which could make for a cold situation and the President will be sitting back, waiting to pounce.

A proposal to regulate Internet gambling in New Jersey advanced on a 6-0 vote by the Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee and will now head to the full Assembly for another vote.

However, that vote may not take place until after the summer because of Gov. Chris Christie’s wavering stance on the issue and his desire to delay the matter. Indications are that the Garden State governor is holding up progress on Internet gambling until after the presidential election in November. Rumors have circulated that Christie may be in line to run alongside Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney as a vice-presidential candidate.

Zynga's headquarters are nothing short of amazing, with lights all over, a variety of video games as far as the eye can see, and engineers all working on the latest from the San Francisco-based social gaming company.

I recently had a chance to sit down with Mike Gupta, Zynga's Vice President Finance and Treasurer, to discuss a wide array of initiatives, including gambling, the company's relationship with Facebook(FB_), console gaming, and Zynga's sinking share price.

Chris Ciaccia: What's Zynga's future as it relates to online gambling? Is that something the company is exploring?
