The judges on The X Factor have probably seen a lot throughout the auditionsand they’re going to see even more. But a famous offspring of one of the world’s biggest and most legendary rock stars reportedly tried out for the second season of the FOX show that is helmed by Simon Cowell, and she hasn’t been the only child of a celebrity to try out in front of judges like Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

Sophie Simmons, the daughter of Gene, who of course is the lead singer for KISS, allegedly tried out for The X Factor and while there was no word on how she did, it would probably be a story if she blew it. Simmons decided to try out at the last minute but she wanted to be evaluated on her own skills and not just as the daughter of a rock legend, which is fair. Sophie is no stranger to the spotlight, being the daughter of Gene Simmons as the entire family stars on Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, a reality show based on the life of Simmons and his family.

X Factor USA - Season 2 - Who will win?
Male +120
Female EVEN
Group +400

Jim Carrey’s daughter Jane tried out in a previous season of American Idol and even though she made it through, she did well enough that she probably opened a few doors for her based on who her father is. She probably doesn’t want to admit it but in Hollywood, it isn’t who you are but who you know and if you’re quasi-talented with a famous parent, you’re going to get a look. That is just the way it goes in the business. Stay tuned to The X Factor to see if there will be another Simmons carrying on the musical legacy.

Elk Grove Village trustees voted unanimously to allow video gaming in the village at last night's (Tuesday) village board meeting.

Elk Grove Village business owners who hold liquor licenses and meet other state requirements can now apply for licenses. Amending the ordinance was not listed as a specific action item on the Tuesday’s agenda, something officials with the Illinois Press Association say could place the new law in jeopardy.

As Cumberland County seeks to tighten rules on Internet sweepstakes cafes, a bill that would clear a path for local governments to tax the businesses edged toward a vote in the state House on Wednesday.

County commissioners fear that high fees imposed on the online gambling cafes in Fayetteville will push them out to rural areas. The county wants to introduce fees of its own.

"Once these people realize they can be right outside the city, you're going to see the floodgates open unless this is taken care of immediately by the county," Commissioner Jimmy Keefe said at a board meeting Monday.

In 2010, Fayetteville started charging cafes $2,000 each to operate, plus $2,500 per machine. Lumberton has imposed higher fees. Business owners challenged them in court as unfair and unconstitutional. They lost, but in May the state Court of Appeals ruled that three of the Fayetteville cases dismissed by a lower court should have gone to trial.

Hotel-casino giant Las Vegas Sands Corp. is suing a British website operator it says has misappropriated the Sands name.

Las Vegas Sands filed suit Tuesday in U.S. District Court for Nevada against Traffic Label Ltd., which has a French-language website using the domain name lasvegassandscorp-com

That site includes links to Internet casinos believed to be sharing click-through revenue with the site owner. Among top casino industry leaders, Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson is known for his opposition to the legalization in the United States of online gambling.

The site also has a rendering that includes the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign and shows the Las Vegas Strip.

It also has a Las Vegas guide featuring photos and descriptions of resorts and nightclubs.

The genre of the reality/performance show is now officially a staple television just as it has been for a few years now. America’s Got Talent is in its seventh season and in terms of ratings, they have soared to the top.

Join Bovada Sportsbook and bet on America’s Got Talent today!

America’s Got Talent finished in the top two spots when it came to NBC’s shows as the Tuesday edition claimed the No. 1 position and the Monday show finished second in the adult demographic for ages 18-49. It also finished No. 1 and No. 2 among primetime shows among ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox for adults between 18-49 and 25-54, along with the number of total viewers and households, teenagers aged 12-17 and kids from the ages of 2-11. That helped NBC finished second among the four major networks for the 18-49 classes and it was tied with Fox for the 25-54 demographic.

America's Got Talent - Who will win?
Male Solo Act +160
Female Solo Act +160
Group Act +200

These shows can cross a number of demographics as they usually have contestants from all age groups and families can get together to watch some relatively wholesome television. Most of the shows that come on during primetime aren’t suitable for younger people and their parents can feel comfortable that they aren’t going to see something that they shouldn’t see. These shows also have judges that are usually celebrities and America’s Got Talent is no different as they feature Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Howard Stern as their judges, and the show is hosted by Nick Cannon, who has a large fanbase of all ages (and being married to Mariah Carey can’t hurt).

This is the time that reality/performance shows should flourish as there aren’t a lot of sports on outside of baseball, while the European Championships are on during the day. The Olympics may carve into their demographics when they start at the end of July, but for now, America’s Got Talent should continue to garner high ratings.

The Nevada Gaming Commission issued its first two licenses for online betting, bringing the state a step closer to real wagering on poker from home.

International Game Technology, based in Reno, Nev., and Las Vegas-based Bally Technologies Inc. received approvals Thursday, according to Michael Lawton, a senior research analyst with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Companies must still get their systems approved by independent testing laboratories before starting service, Lawton said.

The approvals pave the way for the U.S. casino industry to expand into online gambling, a market that may reach $13.4 billion in five years, the estimate of researcher H2 Gambling Capital.

A bill authorizing online betting in Delaware and more venues for sports wagering and other gambling is heading to a Senate vote.

The bill cleared a Senate committee Wednesday despite complaints from church leaders who say it is morally wrong. Delaware's harness racing industry also opposes the bill, saying its members wouldn't get a fair share of the gambling proceeds.

Swedish mobile and social platform games development studio OMI Gaming has received approval from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) to operate under a Core Service Provider Associate Certificate.

The approval will enable OMI Gaming to provide its mobile and social games to Alderney-based online gaming operators as well as to operators around the globe that are licensed in reputable jurisdictions.

Welcoming the company to the island, AGCC spokesperson Robin Le Prevost, commented: "Alderney is automatically associated with the leading and largest online operators and platform providers but we have always been enthusiastic about the small quality start-ups and OMI gaming is just such a start-up. It is interesting but by no means unique that they wanted their first accreditation to come from Alderney as it demonstrates to all that they aspire to the very high standards, which will be of enormous help and value to them as they build their business."

It seems that the Gaming Control Board of the state of Nevada is on a roll in terms of approving internet gambling companies. As after the board approved Bally Technologies, they have further approved 2 more companies and gave them internet gambling licenses. These two companies are William Hill and International Game Technology known as IGT. Mark Lipparelli, the Chairman of the Gaming Board has stated that IGT and William Hill will have to present their technologies to the board and the state in order for it to undergo the testing process. It will be specifically tested for its ability to prevent underage gambling and the access of gamblers from outside the borders of the state of Nevada.

It hasn't been a good day for Kevin Durant. Not only did his Oklahoma City Thunder lose in the NBA Finals, he now has to finght another battle over a nickname.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet Entertainment Props!

Durant is being sued by Mark Durant, a heavy-metal rocker from Chicago who claims that he has used the “Durantula” nickname in various bands since 1993, and “Durantula” is a nickname that has been given to the NBA All-Star scoring leader. “Durantula” has been used on a number of merchandising objects and Durant has also used it on his Twitter account, and Durante feels as though he should be monetarily compensated. Durant, who has other pressing issues to deal with at this time, couldn’t be reached for comment.

This reeks of a money grab and Durant will likely just pay something to make Durante go away, but he could also look into it and see if Durante had the nickname trademarked because if he hadn’t, the rocker may not have a leg to stand on. He has done this before as Durante said that he had named a band “Public Enemy” back in the day, and then a hip-hop group came along and took the name to new heights; of course, we’re talking about icons Public Enemy, a seminal music band. Durant could look at this and say, “this guy isn’t going to do this to me”, and he has much more money than Durante if comes down to a legal battle. This should be fun to watch.

Amusement machine operators may soon face more competition for leisure dollars in states where governments are considering legalizing online gambling. Decisive progress has been made in New Jersey and Delaware. Two top gambling companies are now one step closer to offering online betting options in the state of Nevada. The Nevada Gaming Commission has announced that both Bally Technologies and International Game Technology received approval for an online betting license in the state.

Nevada has steadily been moving forward in the gambling industry. Just last year the state passed a statute which authorized internet gambling in the state. Several top companies have been vying for licenses and now the Gaming Commission has now approved two of the companies for licenses.

WILLIAM Hill has won a gaming licence in Nevada in what is seen as a key move ahead of any decision by the US to lift its ban on online gambling.

Britain’s biggest bookmaker will become the first firm from these shores to operate sports betting in the US after the Nevada Gaming Commission voted unanimously in favour of a licence.

The approval paves the way for the acquisition of three US companies in a $55 million (£35m) deal announced last year.

The three firms – AWI, Brandywine and Cal Neva – operate 55 per cent of Nevada’s race and sports books. They account for about 11 per cent of the state’s sports betting market, which was worth £1.7 billion in 2010.

The licence will allow William Hill to offer sports betting on mobile devices once the acquisitions are completed on 27 June, giving the British bookmaker an edge should legal restrictions on US online gaming be lifted.

The Delaware Senate Executive Committee this week approved a bill, HB333, that would authorize the state lottery and the three racetrack casinos it regulates to offer various forms of Internet gambling, including poker. The bill, which passed Wednesday in a 4-0 vote, now heads to the Senate floor, where it faces a June 30 deadline for passage. A floor vote has been scheduled for June 26. If the bill is approved and signed by Democratic Gov. Jack Markell, Delaware would become the third U.S. state or territory — behind Nevada and the Virgin Islands — to legalize Internet gambling.

Mike Tyson will go down as one of the most enigmatic personalities of our time as he burst onto the heavyweight boxing scene as a 20-year-old champion, then fell into the pitfalls of fame and even went to prison for rape. Tyson decided to do a one-man show based on his life in Las Vegas, but he is now taking it to Broadway and he has called on one of the most controversial directors out there to help him.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet Entertainment Props!

Spike Lee is no stranger to making headlines himself with a long resume of movies that have dealt with race relations; Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X, to name just a few. But he will be diving into the world of Broadway for the first time and he has chosen quite a project as Tyson’s play figures to be fascinating, especially if it’s a one-man show. Tyson is used to performing as well, as he has had parts in movies such as The Hangover, he has made a number of appearances as himself in television shows, and his Tyson documentary, which was directed by James Toback, was one of the darlings of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Lee has also worked with various athletes, such as Ray Allen and Rick Fox (He Got Game), as well as Evander Holyfield (Summer of Sam), who is tied to Tyson because of the ear-biting incident of 1997 in their second fight.

This is going to be one of the most discussed Broadway plays in a while and it is worth a shot to see how Tyson and Lee combine to pull this off. There is no shortage of material for the two to go through, and if you find yourself in New York, you would do well to snag a ticket and check it out as it is schedule for a six-day run that starts on July 30th.

Last week, Nevada took another step along the path to online betting by issuing the first two licenses for interactive gambling companies.

Neither International Gaming Technology or Bally Technologies Inc. intend to get in the online gambling business themselves. Rather, they’re preparing to be the providers of online gambling systems to casino companies that want to get into the business, much as they provide slot machines to individual casinos.

But the approvals give Nevada a leg up on the competition that is surely going to grow in the coming years as more states challenge the federal government’s ban on online gambling. As the gaming market continues to decline because of the expansion of casinos, Nevada will be in good position to provide the know-how that will be needed to take this next step.
