Canada’s Miss Universe will be crowned in Toronto on May 19th but the event has received a ton of publicity already due to a unique situation. Regardless of whether she wins or loses, one of the participants involved figures to come out on top.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet Entertainment Props!

Jenna Talackova, a 23-year-old from Vancouver, was booted from the competition by the Miss Universe Organization when they found out that she had received gender-reassignment surgery in 2010. The organization states a rule that an entrant into the competition has to be a “naturally born” female in order to qualify but Donald Trump, who owns the organization, stepped in to overturn the ruling and the door has been opened for Talackova to be welcomed back into the Miss Universe Canada Pageant, although nothing is official yet. Talakova has all the necessary identification as a woman and she started taking hormones at age 14 before she decided to get the surgery and she has argued that she is not only a woman, but her past doesn’t exactly give her an advantage over her competitors. This is an argument that some have used in the case of sports and the Olympics when it comes to transgendered individuals but it won’t fly in the world of beauty pageants.

Will Jenna Talackova win the Miss Universe Canada Pageant?
Yes 25/1

Will Jenna Talackova Finish in the Top 3 in the Miss Universe Canada Pageant?
Yes 8/1

Right now, you would find odds of 8/1 for Talackova to finish in the top three of the Miss Universe Canada Pageant and 25/1 to go on and represent the country at the global event, which takes place later in 2012, but this is a larger issue than just a beauty pageant now. Talackova is going to have a lot of people on her side and she could very well end up taking the competition, so keep an eye on this story over the next month.

I can't believe this

Been known for some time now that there are a lot of American states intending to join the world of regulated online gambling. Despite that, any official laws still have a long way before enactment. For starters, it has been stated that the officials from the state of Delaware are on their way to explore more into the world of regulated and licensed internet gambling. The state officials already attended numerous meetings with the Delaware’s gambling community’s representatives. These meetings were intended to discuss the possibility of the state to legalize and regulate online gambling. It also included the possible regulation of intra state gambling activities.

The trader leans forward at his desk. There are four screens in front of him. The bottom-right one warns him of his worst-case scenario right now: a £207,000 loss.

This figure has been climbing steadily for the past 90 minutes. His target is a six per cent profit.

His eyes dart to a small television on his left and then back to the screens in front of him, on which numbers flicker and change, listing the money coming in.

Speculation abounds on the future of online poker gambling after the Feds effectively shut it down last year. But there could still be hope for sites like Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker. According to reports in the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere, Pokerstars is in discussions to buy Full Tilt Poker, and the deal may even involve a settlement of civil charges currently brought against the sites by the U.S. Department of Justice.

If regulatory permissions emerge, maybe after the elections, there could be a boost to existing players in the industry such as the online companies, casinos, resorts, and perhaps most important of all, social networking sites like Facebook and gaming outfits like Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA).

Among the many themes in the short history of the Covelli Centre, one theme is constant:

Mayors and their gambles.

That the Covelli Centre exists at all is, in part, due to a gambling mayor.

George McKelvey gambled in the early 2000s with many of the arena decisions, including sticking with a sports facility in the first place that others opposed.

Jay Williams inherited making the Covelli gamble work. Armed with mounting baggage from some of McKelvey’s bad gambles after just two years of operations, Williams, too, gambled. He dumped the original arena operator to find another. A short-term patch while Williams searched was local small-timer Eric Ryan — a Struthers club owner. The period of Williams’ search yielded this reality: Ryan was making the right things happen for the facility. Williams gambled on a structure that bought a national group’s expertise while keeping Ryan in charge.

Everyone in the world of online gambling predicted, the biggest problem facing the opening of the internet gambling community in Spain is directly related to regulations and legislation issues. This is the reason behind the joining of the Development of Gaming’s General Director, Mr. Enrique Alejo and the newest Gaming Regulation’ Deputy General, Mr. Carlos Hernandez. The two participations are expected to occur on May 9 at 4:00 pm during the Gaming in Spain 2012 conference.

There have been a lot of rumors revolving around an internet poker legislation bill that would be presented and supported by a very weird partnership between a Republican senator and a Democrat senator. These senators are Jon Kyl from Arizona and Harry Reid from the state of Nevada. These rumors have been revolving in the world of online gambling for more than a year, and this week, they have surfaced again. According to reports, the two senators are still co operating and working on the legislation bill for online poker.

Although, the end result of this poker legislation bill would not be what the world of poker gambling has been excepting, and it is expected that some points will not be welcomed as well.

Online gambling company Betfair expects to smash records with the London Olympics with £150million wagered through its website.

But this is equivalent only to one weekend’s betting on Premier League football, it said.

The Games will benefit by being held at convenient times for America and Asia, but the relatively short events and lack of interest among gamblers in athletics will restrict the amount wagered.

The impact that internet gambling would have on the Indian tribes will be viewed in front of a Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. This is due to the latest statement by the American Dept. of Justice that legalized all forms of online gambling by stating that the Wire Act that was issued in December 2011 was meant towards sport wagering, thus legalizing other forms of online gambling.

The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, Michael Waxman has stated in his announcement that he calls on the Congress to look into federal laws and legislations. This should be done in order to regulate the world of internet gambling in order to provide a fair playing field for all operators and a safe environment for the customers. This statement came after a number of hearings in the past few months regarding the regulation of the online gambling community.

Despite the many rumors and news concerning the legalization of internet gambling in the United States of America, there is no specific or certain date of when or how will this legalization happen. The only thing that we have are theories presented by analysts within the internet gambling community predicting and estimating how the stake holders should react to these rumors and what strategies to follow. There is a question that involves conflict of interest. This question is related to the slot machine providers who supply these games to their customers, the land based casinos. Will these providers continue to do so and provide their clients with online slot machines for their online gambling casinos, or would they want to have a bigger share of the market by doing it themselves. This will lead to a fierce competition between the slot machine providers and their clients.

Antigua continues its battle with the behemoth over online gambling with no sign yet of an accord, the Observer News reported.

Antigua took it's online gambling dispute with the United States to yet another WTO meeting last week, according to the report.

Antigua is frustrated by the United States pursuit and prosecution of online gambling operators on its territory and alleges that the US is breaching international trade agreements and should face sanctions, according to the Observer News.

The US meanwhile contends that it is Antigua who are holding up achieving a settlement, the report made note.

In recent years, cash-strapped states have begun to seek alternative means of generating revenue and boosting state coffers––including exploring expanded gaming. For some states, this meant the legalization of casinos, once considered the exclusive territory of Nevada, Atlantic City, and the tribal authorities. However, the frontier of expanded gaming stretches well beyond casinos and slot machines. In particular, the online gaming, or iGaming, industry is booming. According to the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) white paper: Online Gambling Five Years After UIGEA, global online gambling revenue in 2010 was nearly $30 billion, with roughly $4 billion originating in the United States.

It seems that finally there are responses to the new regulations that the UK is intending to apply to its online gambling community, regarding the taxing of offshore gambling operators working within the United Kingdom online gambling market. Two responses in particular, one coming from Northern Ireland and the other one came from outside the UK, from the well-known and famous online gambling jurisdiction of Gibraltar.

Thomas Auston Preston, Jr, known as "Amarillo Slim" to generations of poker fans, has passed away at the age of 83. Preston won the 1972 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and was part of the inaugural selection of the Poker Hall of Fame in 1992. He also wrote or co-wrote several books about the game and himself. His son, Bucky Preston, said on Monday that his father had died of colon cancer Sunday in hospice care in Amarillo, TX.

Amarillo Slim earned his nickname playing pool, and along with Doyle Brunson and
Brian "Sailor" Roberts, toured the southwest and playing poker professionally before it was an established way to make a career. While his brash, outspoken nature could be abrasive to many poker players, his skills were legendary, as his numerous cashes and appearances on programs such as The Tonight Show attests.

The world of poker is a little dimmer today with this loss. While his career wins totaled to a modest $587,568, his impact on the game is undeniable. He will be missed.

Each year, the Sunday Times releases its Rich List, which features the 1,000 richest men and women in Britain, and this year 10 of those made their fortunes in the highly lucrative online gambling industry.

The 2012 Sunday Times Rich List includes ten entries from the UK online gambling industry this year, with many of them improving their rankings compared to the previous year's list.

The only online gambling executives on the richest Britons list to make the top 100 are the father-daughter duo, Peter and Denise Coates, founders of the iconic Bet365 gambling entity. Between them, the Coates are worth a massive £800 million, justifying their 92nd position on the list.

The Bet365 gambling executives also saw an increase of £50 million in their net worth compared to last year, showing what a great twelve month period their company had.

One hundred and twelfth on the list - and second highest ranking online gambling executives overall - are the Done brothers who founded the giant bookmaker, Betfred.

Peter and Fred Done are now worth £700 million after seeing their riches increase by £40 million over the past year.
