Today’s instant messaging has changed the way we view the news. The latest tweets from the floor of a conference or the phone of a politician can change the news in a flash. Most of what people read in print is old and usually well edited for the reader’s consumption. It is amazing how fast the word spreads if a law has been changed or new legislation proposed.
That is the case witnessed recently when a message was sent on the internet regarding a law in the State of New Jersey that deals with the proposal to legalize online gambling there. Currently the event where a lot of discussion regarding the laws on internet wagering in the USA is being heard is the International Masters of Gaming Law summit in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The 36 year old, who was trusted to pay herself an agreed wage by the employment agency, helped herself to extra cash bonuses to help settle her debts. Maria admitted to five accounts of fraud of £4,350 and was given 200 hours of unpaid work.
The magistrates in Stockport ruled that she did not have to pay the amount back due to poor financial position. Parsonage from Stockport is married with two children aged 5 and 17. She had not told her husband about the addiction until after she was arrested. The offences occurred between August and December last year and the court was told how her gambling habits went back to 2007. She used high street loans to fund her online gambling addiction initially.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet on The Voice!
Jesse Campbell, a member of Christina Aguilera’s team, was thought to be one of the favorites to win the entire competition with Bovada Sportsbook odds makers setting him as the second favorite at 5/1. He had a heartwarming story as Campbell and his daughter were living out of his car for a period. However, his world was jolted when Aguilera stunned everyone and eliminated Campbell after his rendition of Beyonce’s “Halo” and there are many out there from industry insiders to casual viewers who are wondering if that was the wrong decision. If there is a positive to come from this, it’s that Campbell has probably garnered some attention from record labels and while they may not be major labels, he should be able to find a place to land sooner than later. He could bring a lot of fans in for a smaller label.
The star of Monday’s show was probably Jermaine Paul, who is on Blake Shelton’s team, and he definitely did justice to the Phil Collins’ classic, “Against All Odds”. You could follow him with Erin Willett, another member of Team Shelton who managed to pull off Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain”. Adele is the “It Girl” in music right now and anyone who can do a decent job with her songs will get props from the judges as well as the viewers. Both should move up the list after Campbell’s surprising ouster on The Voice.

The federal government under President George W. Bush enacted a nebulous law, HR 4411. It does not preclude U.S. citizens from gambling online. It does restrict financial institutions from funding online gambling activity. This law scared some online casinos away - unfortunately some of the better ones! But there remain many online casinos that are happy to accept greenbacks!
I know a guy who gambles online. (Not me!) He tells me that it's fun and if played with moderation and intelligence you can actually win! In fact, he's expecting some dough in the mail today.
Two hints he passed on to me:
1. Research. Look for online casinos that have the highest payouts and real player endorsements. Also look for casinos that have realistic withdrawal methods.
2. His years of experience have indicated that new users tend to have better odds and initially win. (He feels that this ploy is used to suck you in!) So, use this and move to another casino when you feel the newness has worn off.
Well, good luck! I'll see you later in Massachusetts.

Scott Butera, in an online discussion Thursday with The Day of New London, said supply in the casino business is clearly outpacing demand. Gambling has been legalized in Massachusetts, though casinos are not expected to open for a few years. Casinos in New York also are taking a greater share of the market.
"We clearly believe that supply growth is outpacing demand," Butera said. "As a result, we will need to adjust our businesses accordingly."
He said he expects additional venues and online gambling to be a part of Foxwoods' future, though not immediately.
Butera also said Foxwoods has concluded negotiations with its creditors and is focusing on completing the transaction. He would not be more specific, citing confidentiality agreements.

The vast majority lost, as they knew they would in a gamble with mega-long odds (176 million to one). A handful won. The names of those whose tickets matched the ten winning numbers haven’t been announced yet, but state officials in Kansas, Illinois, and Maryland say winning tickets were sold there.
They’ll split what’s left of the $640 million jackpot (combined from 42 state lotteries) after Uncle Sam and state taxing authorities claim their share. Others whose $1 ticket matched some of the winning numbers could be paid lesser amounts ranging from $2 to $250,000 (where the odds still were 4 million to one).
States are the biggest winners. Lottery ticket buyers spent some $1.5 billion, most of which goes into state coffers.

Finance director Tom Cook was to meet with casino representatives Tuesday at a meeting of Delaware's Video Lottery Advisory Council at Dover Downs hotel and casino.
Markell administration officials last month proposed authorizing online gambling and allowing more onsite venues for gambling while giving financial breaks to Delaware's three existing casinos.
Officials say the money generated from the expanded gambling would allow them to eliminate the $4 million in slot machine fees paid by the existing casinos and cut their table game fees from $6.75 million to $3 million.

It is intriguing to consider how gambling was placed in this category, since there isn't an "addiction" task force for DSM 5, only a substance-related-disorders one. So who decided gambling was the one thing people did, other than to consume drugs and alcohol, that was addictive and how did they decide that?
