You watch poker on TV and they have all these players being sponsored by a poker website. How do they get that sponsorship?

If you were there two players left and you were one of them playing hold em. You had pocket jacks and there were a pair of 10's what would your final bet be?

It's you and a family member, you feel you have the hand to beat them. Do you try to take them down?

What is the advantage of being raked?
[FONT=Franklin Gothic Medium]The only advantages to being raked is (1) if you get points for the raked hands that can be used for either goods/services from the room or entries to tournaments or (2) if you have a rakeback deal at a room then it will help you recoup some of your losses. . .

The rake is the poker rooms fee. Each hand inn ring games will have a small portion of the pot deducted from it provided the pot is above a certain minimum amount depending on the stakes. Each hand above that minimum will have a rake deducted from it. There is a cap on it according to the stakes as well. Each room is different and you can read the rake policy for each site on there policy statements.

Most rooms give you some form of bonus points according to how much rake they collect from you or the tables your on or from tourney buyin fees. You can turn these into cash through bonus offers or tournament buyins using points.

One of the toughest gambling regimes in the United States, the state of New Jersey, is forging the way for the introduction of legal online poker and casino gambling. The New Jersey House Bill 2570, introduced this month, could see the state’s casinos offer internet gambling to its citizens as early as this year.

The bill introduced by Senator Raymond J. Lesniak forms a very real opportunity for New Jersey to open the doors for other states to follow suit. The New Jersey House Hill 2570 will definitely be a pioneering piece of legislation that will see states such as California, Iowa and Florida – all currently teetering on the sidelines – forge ahead with their own intrastate online gambling laws.

The World Series of Poker has made a lot of money for their sponsors over the years. The brand is the most recognizable in the game of poker, and they charge millions of dollars for companies to advertise during their events in the summer.

One company, however, Everest Poker, is suing the WSOP for what it calls a breach of contract. Everest Poker contends that the WSOP broke an agreement by allowing the Full Tilt Logo to be shown on the felt while the WSOP was being aired by RTL9 in France.

Everest Poker paid for the rights to have their logo on the felt for the WSOP, and their logo would be seen when the events from the WSOP were televised. The company also claims that they had previously told officials from Harrah's, ESPN, and the WSOP about the potential problem.

The online gambling company made it a point to say they do not accept US players, and that the majority of their revenue is generated from French customers. They are seeking to terminate their advertising contract with the WSOP.

The contract was set to run through 2010. Everest Poker paid $6.2 million in 2008 and $7.9 million to sponsor in 2009. The company, however, does not believe they should have to pay the $8.4 million for the upcoming 2010 WSOP.

We’re two months away from mandatory industry compliance with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). The financial services industry in the United States must wholly comply with the 2006 law by June 1st, which has created a tidal wave of concern in the online poker industry. The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the poker industry’s main lobbying voice, has been hitting the ground running on Capitol Hill attempting to remove peer-to-peer games like poker from the final UIGEA regulations.
