At his fourth final table so far of the 2009 WSOP, poker pro Jeff Lisandro ran over the competition to capture his astounding third bracelet of the summer. What makes this accomplishment even more incredible is that they were all won in stud events - $1,500 Seven Card Stud, $10,000 World Championship Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo and, now, $2,500 Seven Card Razz - making him arguably the best stud player in the world.

On top of his four WSOP final tables this year, Lisandro has cashed in two other events to bring his winnings so far to $807,491. Not bad for a few weeks work. While he doesn't have the WSOP Player of the Year honors wrapped up quite yet (it seems there's still a mathematical possibility that Phil Ivey could overtake him), he is definitely the front runner for the award.

This is the fourth bracelet for the native-born Australian, who now calls Italy home, and his 31st total WSOP cash.

Amazing

Continuing its plan to offer land-based tournaments for players around the globe, World Poker Tour® (WPT) today published full details for its anticipated eighth season in the United States. The 12-stop tour, which will be filmed in High Definition for broadcast on Fox Sports Net (FSN) in the United States, kicks off next month at Bellagio in Las Vegas.

WPT Season VIII also features favorite pro stops at Bay 101 in San Jose, Calif.; Bicycle Casino's new Event Center in Los Angeles; Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss.; Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City; Commerce Casino in Los Angeles; and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

The casino, which will re-open as the Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg on June 29, is a 270,000 square foot riverboat casino that sits on the Ohio River. In addition to the $10,000 main event—the first ever televised WPT tournament in the Midwest—Hollywood Casino will host three non-televised WPT tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $3,000 to $5,000. All tournaments will be played in the casino's brand-new state-of-the-art WPT Poker Room.

"As this great game has evolved over the years, we have seen the tour grow and develop into something truly incredible," said Steve Lipscomb, WPT Founder and CEO. "Each year seems to top the last, from stops in exciting new venues to historical moments to break-out players to unbelievable action. We're looking forward to seeing what the eighth season brings—thenwatching it broadcast in HD!"

World Series of Poker expects to set records despite recession.

The final event begins today at noon and runs until July 15, when a final table of nine players will be decided. Those players will return Nov. 7 to decide the champion.

(Last year, the series paid out $180.7 million in prize money and drew 58,720 entries, with 6,844 of those entries for the main event's $10,000 buy-in no-limit Texas hold'em tournament).

The biggest friend to the American poker player is Barney Frank, and this morning, Sunday, July 5th, he is slated to give the command to "Shuffle Up And Deal" which will kick off Day 1c of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event.

(Representative Frank has been hard on the campaign trail, trying to gain supporters for his proposed legislation. At this point, Frank has been able to raise several dozen backers, in Congress, let alone Millions of Americans, which are in favor of his bill).

Since everyone is trying to read each other, what happens if I bluff them by being totally random? I can bluff half of the time and the other half I don't. Would that work?

Matt Graham is making a habit out of winning WSOP bracelets. The Ultimate Bet pro successfully conquered a field of 295 players in Event #40, a World Championship Pot-Limit Omaha event at the World Series of Poker last night, securing a first place prize of $679,379 and his second WSOP bracelet.

Behind the Poker cards

Poker is arguably one of the most mentally challenging games in the casino. After all, you need to constantly consider many factors when playing your cards. All this while anxiously waiting for the next card that you will draw.

In order to have a good chance when playing the game in an online casino, you need to arm yourself with an appropriate strategy. What you need to consider when deciding on your gameplay is that there are some basic differences in online gameplay and that of traditional table play. This will help you to design your strategy much better.

The most obvious thing that you would notice is that the gameplay is much faster since the cards are automatically dealt to you as soon as you hit the deal button. Also, other parts of the game, such as betting and hitting, have their results in less than a second after you made your decision. Thus, you need to be rather quick in thinking and deciding on your next moves.

One of the things that you can do is to think ahead about your moves. While you definitely won't be able to predict what card will be showing up on the next draw is (no one can, actually), you can have a general idea of the possible cards that can show up. Here, card counting is definitely a must. However, you should note that card counting in an online casino is somehow different from doing it on the table. For one, you won't be able to track the dealers movement (since there is no one) when dealing the cards.

However, there is still something that you can do here. The thing that you need to remember is that, while the game is played digitally, it still uses the standard 52-card deck. By remembering what cards have already appeared, you can then have a good idea of the deck's current composition. Card counting using points for each card can be also done here. Since you are playing right at home, you can even use a pen and paper to list down your count. This makes it even easier to keep track of your counts and lets you focus more on the game.

Also note that since you are playing via the internet, you won't be able to see your opponents face to face. This can be either good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Obviously, since you can't see the other players, you won't know if they are bluffing or not. This also goes true in your case, which you can use to your advantage if you know how to.

In order to carry out a good bluff online, you need to choose your moves. Since you are not seen by other players, you need not worry about your face showing hints of a bluff. However, your next move may show up these hints. You should therefore make your moves at the right time in order for them to be unnoticeable and make it easier for opponents to fall for your bluff.

Now that the Final Table at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is set, online poker players in the USA can turn their attention to National Poker Week, which the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has declared as July 19-25. Most important is for anyone concerned about online rights and poker freedom to sign the PPA petition, to be delivered to President Obama July 22nd.

On Poker is Not a Crime - Poker Petition, poker players and non poker players alike who wish to end UIGEA's infringement on their personal freedoms can sign a petition telling U.S. President Barack Obama that Poker is NOT a crime.
