A former sheriff of Buncombe County, North Carolina has been sentenced on Monday in a case that involved him taking bribes from video poker operators. Bobby Medford will serve fifteen years in prison for the crime.

(Medford was sheriff for twelve years)

The Las Vegas Hard Rock Casino and Hotel recently unveiled its plush new poker room, the Poker Lounge. To commemorate the opening, a tournament was held featuring many name players and professionals.

Eighteen tables were filled with participants. Pamela Brunson was the winner of a custom-made Hard Rock motorcycle.

Pamela has been more succesful lately than either her famous father or her talented professional brother, Todd. She finished in the money at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, and won the Legends of Poker tournament of the World Poker Tour in August 2007.

It's clear that the Brunson name will continue to make poker headlines.

The tournament, which was part of - SkyCity - festival of poker, ran for four days. Over 300 poker players entered the tournament.

(Most of the players in the tournament were from New Zealand).

Daniel Craker wins the tournament and the top prize of $257,040.

Microgaming has announced that they will once again ban 14 states that include the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Players will have their IP addresses locked and account balances will be refunded as soon as possible.
