The growth of poker will only enhance our opportunities to individually profit from the game in the future. Absent that growth, fewer and fewer of us will be able to call poker our profession. As a collective we need to understand the importance of giving back to the game.

Thursday, the gaming commission signed off on the licenses recommended earlier this month for IGT and Bally Technologies.
These two companies are the first to be considered for a licenses since authorities approved regulations for interactive gambling.
Specifically -- those regulations require technology that can identify underage players and verify the gambler's location.
But even with this approval, Bally and IGT still have to wait for individual casinos to be licensed for this sort of gaming.

While gambling taxes are hardly the cure for state’s daunting debt woes, they may provide new sources of revenue needed by the indebted to pay down obligations, help fund state-sponsored projects and spark job creation.
"The main political motivation for legalization of gambling is tax revenues and employment," said Doug Walker, an economics professor at the College of Charleston. "It is unlikely that online gambling will lead to significant increases in jobs, but generally, more economic activity is better than less."

The bill’s sponsors, Senators Roderick Wright and Darrell Steinberg, are meeting with the state’s gambling interest groups this week to hear their concerns and work on amending SB1463 in an effort to appease all the parties involved. A difficult task to accomplish considering that tribal casinos, cardrooms and horse racing interests all want a piece of the revenue that online poker legislation would bring to the Golden State.
"The problem is that not all stakeholders want the same thing, each group is self-interested," said Harsh Parikh, a gaming attorney with Snell & Wilmer, LLP, in Costa Mesa, who is monitoring the bill for some national and international gaming companies and financial stakeholders. "Some tribes believe they have exclusive right to online gaming. Most scholars and lawyers on the topic disagree."

In Speed Hold’em Poker, which is available initially at select No Limit Hold’em cash games, players join a large pool of players and face different opponents with every hand. Players can fold their hands at any time by clicking a Speed Fold button, even if it’s not their turn to act. They are immediately moved to a different table where they are dealt a new hand.
Moving from hand to hand is streamlined for the players, as there is no opening and closing of table screens. When a speed poker hand finishes, or when a player folds, a player’s opponents simply disappear and new ones instantly take their place.
Speed Hold’em Poker tables are easily found in the Titan Poker software and they can be saved in a player’s Favourites, or accessed with the Quick Seat feature. Players can play up to four times more hands per hour and can also multi-table with multiple entries into the playing pool.
Speed Hold’em Poker speeds up the poker action, significantly reducing the waiting time between hands.
