The CEO of Caesars Entertainment has been crusading to legalize online gambling, and he makes some good points.
Online poker will become legal, Gary Loveman said in an interview with CNN. Already, several states are inching toward making it legal.
"I can say with tremendous confidence that people will be able to play play online legally in the United States in many places very soon," he said in the interview.

The major casino companies are using Nevada as online gaming insurance. The Silver State is close to an intrastate industry, but everyone wants more.
The industry sees Nevada’s effective population (residents plus tourists) as just not enough to make web poker worthwhile. A federal bill authorizing the activity nationwide or a state-by-state patchwork are solutions to the liquidity issue.
The American Gaming Association, the industry’s top lobbying group in the Beltway, is still pushing hard for a federal bill. On Thursday in Las Vegas, Nevada, the group’s President, Frank Fahrenkopf, presented the Nevada Gaming Policy Committee with an update.
Fahrenkopf began by telling the 11-member panel, headed by Gov. Brian Sandoval, that state compacts for Internet poker might not be so easy in the absence of a federal regime. According to Fahrenkopf, the U.S. Congress has authority to approve or deny any state-to-state deal, although it historically hasn’t interfered.

Coming finally to a stadium near you is what is being dubbed the International Stadiums of Poker Tour. Credibility was on the line for a considerable time as announced were made and then retracted or refuted. Most claims seem a little out on limb such as the one the Groupe Bernard Tapie presented to the public saying there will be 30,000 players playing online at Wembley Stadium using their electronic devises. The rolls will be reduced to 3000, who will challenge one another in an opportunity to take home a part of the €20,000,000 in prizes. Real felt tables will be placed on the playing field at Wembley which sounds somewhat strange indeed.

I´ve been "working" on an on-line Betting Concept since early -08 (actually, the Idea started growing then, but since I know nothing about programming I´m stuck with the Idea as such). The Conept does not exist on the Market today, but I believe it will become a success if I manage to bring it to the point of actually reaching the Market as a ready Product.
I now have some Funding to do this, PROVIDED I can present a "Winning Team" to the Investor, so I wonder if anyone here knows about any skillful Programmer, specialized in Betting Software and with the capacity to integrate several different sets of Software into one working Unit?

Phil Ivey, who has been avoiding the poker media of late, has made it to another WSOP final table. A few days back, he had attracted attention by emerging as the runner up of the $10k PL Hold’em event. So far, Ivey has made it to three WSOP final tables and has won cash prizes four times. Ivey, who has won WSOP bracelets eight times in the course of his career, was once a sponsored player at Full Tilt Poker, a glorious online poker room that is now no more. Full Tilt Poker is believed to have loaned millions of dollars to its sponsored players, who have not yet repaid around $10 million to $20 million, according to Group Bernard Tapie (GBT), a French investment company that had once mulled over the idea of acquiring the beleaguered online poker room and pulling it to its feet. However, the acquisition deal fell apart as the GBT could not come to an agreement with the US Department of Justice. Behn Dayanim, legal representative of GBT, said that debts owed by Layne Flack, Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, David Benyamine, Mike Matusow, and Barry Greenstein to Full Tilt Poker were “a serious obstacle to the completion of the deal.” Currently, PokerStars is examining the pros and cons of acquiring Full Tilt Poker.

Bwin.party has failed to get its name removed from the Belgian Gambling Commission’s blacklist of operators whose IP addresses must be blocked.
The Commission’s legal representatives ALTIUS issued a statement applauding the decision of the Court of First Instance in Brussels saying, “In a judgment delivered today, the President of the Court of First Instance of Brussels has denied a request by BwinParty, operator of the online gambling website -bwin-com, to order the Belgian Gaming Commission to remove bwin-com from its blacklist and to unblock access to it. The President found that BwinParty’s request had no legal merit."

The US-based Poker Players’ Alliance (PPA) has posted a new petition to US legislators, urging them to legalize and regulate the US online poker industry at the earliest possible. The petition attempts to draw the attention of nearly a dozen lawmakers to the urgent need to create a proper regulatory framework for online poker in the US.

According to a blog from John Brennan, the governor has “sidestepped” the issue in recent weeks. He also shot down an attempt at legalization last year, citing concerns with Atlantic City’s tourism.
