June 27 (Reuters) - Shuffle Master Inc pulled out of a deal to buy online poker company Ongame Network Ltd, a setback in the casino games maker's efforts to grab a piece of the growing internet gambling market.

The company's shares were down 6 percent at $12.58 on Wednesday on the Nasdaq.

Online poker in the U.S. begins to emerge especially in the State of Nevada. Indeed, the Neveda Gaming Control Board granted the license "Interactive Gaming License" for three operators of online gambling within the State. This is Bally Technologies, International Game Technology (IGT) and William Hill. In the first time, the license granted will only let them to offer them to offer their service inside the State but they may subsequently request a federal license. This will allow them to extend their service to other States like California or New Jersey. The State Gaming Commission has officially signed off on two licenses for online poker within state lines.

Thursday, the gaming commission signed off on the licenses recommended earlier this month for IGT and Bally Technologies.

These two companies are the first to be considered for a licenses since authorities approved regulations for interactive gambling.

Specifically -- those regulations require technology that can identify underage players and verify the gambler's location.

But even with this approval, Bally and IGT still have to wait for individual casinos to be licensed for this sort of gaming.

Currently, Georgia sophomore running back Isaiah Crowell is 60/1 on Bovada’s college football player props to become the first Bulldog since Herschel Walker 30 years ago to win the school’s first Heisman Trophy. But Crowell might not even be a Bulldog next season following an arrest on a weapons charge Friday in Athens.

Crowell, the nation’s top running back recruit out of high school, was arrested and charged with a felony count of possessing a weapon in a school zone, a felony count of altered identification mark and misdemeanor count of possession/carrying a concealed weapon. Police said the altered ID-mark charge stems from a tampered serial number and that the gun in question was a 9mm Luger. Under Georgia Athletic Association policy, student-athletes charged with felonies are immediately suspended from the team.

Crowell was named the SEC Freshman of the Year after appearing in 12 games, seven starts, and carrying 185 times for 850 yards and five TDs while also catching eight passes for 59 yards and a TD. Crowell was hampered by an ankle injury late in the season and ran only 15 times for 31 yards in the Bulldogs' last four games. But he ranked sixth in the SEC in rushing with 70.8 yards per game.

Off-the field-problems have dogged Crowell. He was benched for the first quarter of the Vanderbilt game on Oct. 15 as a punishment for an unknown disciplinary infraction and was suspended for the Nov. 5 New Mexico State game – the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says reportedly for a failed drug test. If Crowell is out of the picture, Georgia will turn to redshirt sophomore Ken Malcome and senior Richard Samuel to carry the load at tailback. The Bulldogs also have incoming freshman running back Keith Marshall, considered one of the top prep running backs of his class. He has already enrolled at Georgia.

Full Tilt Poker founder Raymond Bitar, accused of defrauding players, money laundering and other crimes, is arrested in New York upon his return to the U.S.

The founder of the defunct gambling site Full Tilt Poker, which allegedly owes $350 million to Internet poker players, was arrested in New York as he came back into the country.

The $1,000,000 Big One For One Drop tournament that's taking place at this year's World Series of Poker* has already set tongues wagging. After all, it's a charity tournament that's raising an unprecedented amount of money for Guy Laiberte's One Drop Foundation (11.1111% of every player's buy-in goes to the nonprofit that's dedicated to bringing clean drinking water to everyone, everywhere) and has billionaires and poker pros alike rubbing elbows for their share of the $42,666,672 prize pool.

48 players sat down and as of this writing, 37 are left, but the most dramatic hand so far wasn't an elimination: it was a fold that has poker pundits and amateurs alike contemplating exactly what happened. Mikhail Smirnov — a businessman and part-time poker player from Moscow — was sitting in Seat 2 of the table with just over $3.5m in his stack, above the median in the tournament. To his left in seat #3 was John Morgan, CEO of the Winmark Corporation.

Smirnov was dealt 8h8d and the flop yielded up another 8 in its spread of Js8c7s. Pretty terrific, right? Smirnov's elation was quickly tempered when Morgan called instantly. The turn brought the final 8 to the board - a spade. Smirnov fired another bet into the pot and Morgan tapped his chips for about five seconds before calling.

The river was the King of spades, opening up the board radically. A flush was possible. Full houses were up for grabs. Quads could happen and a straight flush was possible. It was already stressful enough for the players to look at the board's Js8c7s8sKs and Smirnov bet 700,000. Morgan stalled for a moment and then pushed all in for 3.4 million in chips.

Two minutes passed. Smirnov looked at the board and his opponent. Could his opponent hold Ts9s and have that straight flush? For all intents and purposes, it would cost him a million dollars to find out. A few more moments passed.

Smirnov folded, but he wanted to let people know how tough the call was for him. He revealed his powerhouse hand and let everyone see that he had quad eights. The room exploded for a few moments and no matter what Smirnov does going forward, he'll be known as the man who folded quads on a hand worth over $4,000,000 total.

Morgan, though? He's not speaking a word about the hand and what he was holding.

"I’m not going to tell anyone," Morgan told a reporter. "And the reason I am not going to reveal it is totally out of respect for my opponent."

July 3 - 888 Holdings, the leading London-listed online gambling group, has announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with WMS Gaming Inc, a group with designs and manufacturers gaming content and machines in the US.

According to the statement issued by 888 Holdings, the new US gaming alliance will allow WMS Gaming to offer online products to its customers using 888's successful online poker platform.

The end product through a joint 888 and WMS Gaming venture will see land-based casino operators in the United States improve their poker game portfolios as well as increase their customer bases.

Both 888 and WMS have submitted applications to the Nevada State Gaming Control Board in a bid to obtain interactive gaming licenses.

The alliance between the online gambling entities is subject to state and federal regulation and licensing requirements.
