It’s a newsy day regarding the New York Knicks as they host the Utah Jazz on Monday night, with New York a 3-point favorite on Bovada's NBA basketball betting odds. The big item is that star forward Amare Stoudemire is out tonight after his brother Hazell was killed in a car crash early Monday morning.

Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on all the NBA action at Bovada!

The Florida Highway Patrol issued a report that said Hazell Stoudemire was driving a Cadillac Escalade north on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales, Fla., at a high rate of speed and collided with the rear of a tractor trailer at 1:42 a.m. ET. The report said that the 35-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was declared dead at the scene. Police did not know at the time of the report if alcohol was involved. Amare Stoudemire was a high school star in the Lake Wales area, which isn’t too far from Orlando, and was Florida’s Mr. Basketball as a senior – he went straight to the NBA out of high school. Stoudemire flew to Florida to be with his family.

The Knicks also have games this week in Washington on Wednesday, against the Lakers on Friday in New York and in Minnesota on Saturday. It’s not yet known if Stoudemire will be available for those. Jared Jeffries starts in his place. The Knicks have only one stretch of consecutive wins this season -- a four-game streak from Jan. 6-11.

Meanwhile, the Knicks also have a new starting point guard: Jeremy Lin. He is a 23-year-old Harvard graduate that bounced between the D-League and the Warriors last season. On Saturday, he came off the bench for a career-high 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals to lead the Knicks to a win over the Nets. His promotion means Iman Shumpert and Toney Douglas head to the bench. Lin’s time as the starter will end once Baron Davis is ready to make his season debut, but that’s not likely this week.

The Jazz enter off an impressive 96-87 home win over the L.A. Lakers on Saturday but Utah is just 2-5 on the road this year. The Knicks and Jazz split two meetings last season, but New York has won six of seven at The Garden.

The Philadelphia 76ers finished right at the .500 mark last season, but they're well ahead of that pace this year heading into their home matchup on Monday night against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

NBA Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on the NBA at Bovada.

The Sixers were at 125/1 odds to win the NBA championship at the beginning of January, but sitting atop the Atlantic Division standings right now they were up to 25/1 on that futures list at last update at Bovada. The Lakers sit at 9/1 odds to win the title this season.

And the Lakers are also riding a four-game winning streak against the Sixers, although the teams split those four contests 2-2 against the spread. Overall Los Angeles is 8-2 straight up and 6-4 against the spread in the past 10 meetings between the two teams dating back to 2006. The OVER/UNDER went 5-5 for totals bettors in those 10 contests.

Philadelphia didn't have forward Elton Brand (sprained thumb) in the lineup in their last game on Saturday night, but they still managed to pull out a 98-87 road win over the Atlanta Hawks. Brand is averaging 10.1 points and 6.7 boards per game this season.

Nikola Vucevic led the way with 15 points off the bench for the Sixers in that win on Saturday, while Thaddeus Young, Louis Williams, and Spencer Hawes were each good for 14 points. Hawes (strained Achilles) just returned to action for Saturday's contest.

The Lakers last played on Saturday night as well, falling 96-87 on the road against the Utah Jazz. Bryant tossed in 26 points for the Lakers in that defeat, and Pau Gasol was good for 24 points and 16 rebounds. Andrew Bynum had 21 points and 12 boards.

After getting steamrolled by Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder last month the Golden State Warriors will get another shot at them when the teams hook up in California on Tuesday night.

NBA Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on the NBA at Bovada.

Oklahoma City grabbed a 120-109 road win over Golden State in the first meeting of the season between the teams on January 27, covering the spread as a 4.5-point favorite on the NBA betting lines for the contest. The combined score was an easy OVER result for bettors.

Durant poured in 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Oklahoma City in that victory, with Russell Westbrook good for 28 points and 11 assists in that game. Serge Ibaka added 20 points for Oklahoma City, and James Harden tossed in 19 points off the bench.

Dorell Wright paced Golden State's offense with 23 points in that defeat, with David Lee adding 19 points and Stephen Curry tossing in 15 points to go along with six assists.

The Warriors have managed to win just three of their past 10 games against the Thunder, although they did cover the posted spread in six of those contests. Seven of the last 10 matchups between the clubs have been OVER results.

Golden State is coming off a 114-106 loss in Sacramento in their last game on Saturday, with Wright scoring a team-high 24 points for the Warriors in that loss. Monta Ellis finished that game with 18 points but also hurt his wrist and might not be 100% on Tuesday; Ellis is averaging 21.3 points and 6.5 assists per game so far this season.

Any realistic chance the Los Angeles Clippers had of winning the Western Conference this season might have gone up in smoke on Monday night during L.A.’s 107-102 overtime victory in Orlando.

Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on all the NBA action at Bovada!

Starting shooting guard Chauncey Billups suffered a left Achilles' tendon injury in the game and the team fears it could be ruptured, which would end his season. The injury occurred midway through the fourth quarter. Billups fell to the court as he tried to change directions while chasing the ball after missing a 3-point attempt. There was no contact with another player. Billups was having a big night, scoring 11 of his 18 points in fourth quarter.

Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro kept shaking his head, repeatedly saying how bad he felt for Billups and adding, "This is not good." Billups will have an MRI when the Clippers arrive in Cleveland today.

Billups, 35 is the team’s emotional leader. He had been a point guard for the majority of his NBA career but was moved to shooting guard when the Clips landed Chris Paul. Billups is averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 assists this season for the 15-7 Clippers, who lead the Pacific Division by 2.5 games over the L.A. Lakers. Billups is in the final year of his contract, so if it is a complete tear, his career might be over.

The good news is that the Clippers do have a lot of guard depth. Mo Williams, who was rumored to be the on trading block, and Randy Foye will fill Billups’ minutes. Williams on Monday played all five minutes of overtime and made two free throws late in OT. He has started one game this season for the Clippers. Foye played less than 7 minutes on Monday. Look for Williams to start Wednesday against the Cavaliers.

The only thing going for the Washington Wizards this season is the fact that the NBA schedule has been shortened because of the lockout. Washington's embarrassing campaign will continue on Wednesday night this week as they host the New York Knicks.

NBA Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on the NBA at Bovada.

Of course, as bad as the Wizards are they still won't be the most disappointing team on the hardwood on Wednesday night. The Knicks, with Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony now in tow, were expected to be a contender in the Eastern Conference this season.

Instead, the Knicks have faltered badly, and they're not even in a playoff position heading into their matchup with the Wizards – who everyone figured would stink this season.

The Knicks slipped past the Wizards by a score of 99-96 in Washington when those teams met in early January, failing to cover the spread as a 5.5-point road favorite on the NBA betting lines. Totals bettors saw that contest turn into an UNDER result.

That made it seven straight wins for New York over Washington, and it was the only time in those seven games that they failed to also pick up an against-the-spread victory as well.

Anthony led the way with 37 points for the Knicks in that win over the Wizards, while Tyson Chandler picked up 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Stoudemire was good for 23 points and 12 boards.

Stoudemire is day-to-day for the Knicks this week as he deals with the death of his brother in a car crash in Florida on Monday. Anthony left the Knicks' win over the Jazz on Monday with a strained groin, and he won't be available for Wednesday night.

Nick Young had a team-high 24 points in that loss for the Wizards, with John Wall adding 22 points and nine assists on the day. JaVale McGee had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Sunshine State rival Magic and Heat have avoided each other thus far this season but that changes tonight when surging Miami begins a long road trip by visiting struggling Orlando. The Heat opened as 3.5-point favorites on Bovada’s NBA basketball betting odds.

Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on all the NBA action at Bovada!

It’s the second of a back-to-back for Miami after the Heat won 107-91 at home against Cleveland. Dwayne Wade had 26 and LeBron James 24 to lead Miami. The Heat’s lead was only a point late in the third quarter, before the Cavaliers missed 17 of their next 19 shots and Miami finally pulled away. The Heat are 19-6, the best start in team history, and have won 11 of their past 13. Tonight’s game starts a six-game trip for Miami.

The Magic (15-10) lost at home to the L.A. Clippers 107-102 in overtime on Monday night despite 33 points and 14 rebounds from Dwight Howard. Orlando blew a 15-point first-half lead to fall to 8-5 at home. Point guard Jameer Nelson returned to the lineup and had 15 points and 12 assists after missing five consecutive games with concussion symptoms.

The task of guarding James likely will go to Orlando’s Hedo Turkoglu, who was benched late in the Magic's loss to the Clippers because he was ineffective. Jason Richardson will try and slow Wade.

The Magic and Heat split their series last season at two games apiece. Miami holds a 4-3 record this season in the second games of back-to-backs. The Heat are just 1-5 ATS in past six as a road favorite this season. Magic are 4-1 ATS in past five as a home dog.

Dead last in the Western Conference standings last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves have shown some signs of life this year – including beating the defending-champion Dallas Mavericks twice. Those two teams will hook up again on Friday night in Minnesota.

The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on the NBA at Bovada.

The Timberwolves haven't evolved into one of the West's elite teams, but they're still in the hunt for a playoff berth in the conference a third of the way through the shortened campaign. That can be considered progress for a club that went 17-65 last season.

On the current Bovada NBA futures the Timberwolves are at 100/1 odds to win the championship this season, with the Mavericks set at 18/1 odds to claim the title again.

That disparity wasn't reflected in the first two meetings of the season between those teams, however, as Minnesota won 99-82 at home on January 1 and 105-90 in Dallas on January 25. The Timberwolves were listed as underdogs in both of those contests.

In their January 25 win the T-Wolves got a big game from Kevin Love, who poured in 31 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Love sat out matchups against the Kings and Grizzlies this week with a suspension, but he's eligible to return to action on Friday night.

Ricky Rubio added 17 points and 12 assists in that last win for the Timberwolves, and Nikola Pekovic was good for 13 points and seven boards off the bench. Jason Terry led Dallas with 17 points in that loss, with Dirk Nowitzki sitting out the game with an injury.

Dallas had won seven of their past eight games against Minnesota prior to this season, but they only managed to cover the posted spread at Bovada in three of those contests. The OVER/UNDER has gone 5-5 in the past 10 meetings between the two teams.

Certainly the best matchup, at least on paper, in Monday’s NBA action is when the Dallas Mavericks, who appear to have gotten their act together, host the Los Angeles Clippers, with the reigning NBA champs opening as 3.5-point favorites on Bovada’s NBA basketball odds.

Dallas (17-11, 16-12 ATS) has won three straight. On Saturday, the Mavs improved to 10-5 at home by beating Portland 97-94 in double overtime. Dallas got a rare good game from Lamar Odom, who had 10 points, five rebounds and no turnovers in 23 minutes. But one concern for Dallas is that it has 41 combined turnovers in the past two games. The Blazers didn’t take advantage as they should have, converting 23 turnovers into only 23 points.

It will be a big night for the Clippers’ Caron Butler. He will pick up his NBA championship ring before the game in a brief ceremony. Butler tore his anterior cruciate ligament on Jan. 1, 2011, against the Milwaukee Bucks and never played again for the Mavs.

Los Angeles (17-8, 15-10 ATS) enters off a 111-86 win at Charlotte on Saturday. Blake Griffin had 21 points and 10 boards to lead the Clips past the NBA’s worst team. All five starters scored in double figures for the Clippers, who shot 52.6% from the field and held the Bobcats to 35.1%, including one for 14 (7.1%) from three-point range. They are 4-1 (4-1 ATS) on this six-game road trip that ends in Dallas.

Dallas and the Clips met Jan. 18 in L.A., a 91-89 Los Angeles victory. Chauncey Billups, now out for the season, hit the game-winning three-pointer with just a second remaining. Clippers star point guard Chris Paul missed the game with an injury. Dallas played without key bench player Vince Carter. L.A.’s Mo Williams was the game’s high scorer with 26 points. That was the Clippers’ only cover against Dallas in the past eight meetings.

The biggest story in the NBA right now is easily the Lin-sanity in New York surrounding Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin. From out of nowhere, Lin has become a media sensation and he looks to lead New York to its sixth straight win on Tuesday night when the Knicks visit Toronto. New York opened as a 3-point favorite on Bovada’s NBA basketball betting odds.

Lin, the former Harvard star and NBA’s first prominent Asian-American, was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 assists and 2.0 steals in leading to New York to a 4-0 week. His 109 points over his first four career starts are the most by any player since 1976-77, and he became the first player in NBA history to score at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first four starts. Lin scored a career-high 38 points on Feb. 10, in a 92-85 win over the Lakers.

A year ago, Lin played 29 games for the Golden State Warriors and shot 38.9 percent, averaging 2.6 points per game. He also spent time in the D-League a year ago. A week ago he had 114 points in his NBA career; in five games since he's racked up 134. He scored more points in his first four starts than any other player since the ABA-NBA merger. New York is averaging 11 more points per 48 minutes with Lin on the floor. The Knicks' shooting percentage is five percent higher with Lin.

What’s even more astounding is that the Knicks (13-15) have played the past four games without stars Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony (Melo did play a few minutes last Monday). Stoudemire was away from the team because his brother died in car accident last Monday but is expected to play Tuesday. Anthony probably won’t be back before Friday due to a groin injury. Some are wondering whether Anthony can co-exist with Lin, but Stoudemire should thrive because he did playing alongside a good point guard in Steve Nash in coach Mike D'Antoni's system. He is likely going to be the Knick who benefits the most from Lin's playmaking ability. Anthony, meanwhile, traditionally thrives in isolation situations.

The Raptors (9-20) shouldn’t pose much of a problem for the Knicks. They have lost four of five and are just 4-8 at home. Plus leading scorer Andrea Bargnani remains out with a strained calf. Bargnani is averaging career bests of 23.5 points and 6.4 rebounds, as well as a 47.6% field-goal percentage and 6.4 free-throw attempts per game.

This is the second meeting of the season between the teams. Toronto pulled a 90-85 upset at New York on Jan. 2. Anthony had 35 points and 11 boards in the game, which Stoudemire missed with a sprained ankle. Lin didn’t play a single second.

Unless you've been doing nothing but tracking Grammy buzz you know about the Lin-sanity Jeremy Lin has put on NBA odds over the last week.

The Knicks point guard and Harvard alum has turned the dying Knicks around, averaging 26.8 points and 8 assits per game. More importantly the once floundering Knicks are paying off for bettors who jumped on the band wagon early, winning five in a row straight up and against the spread and covering nine of their last 10. The Knicks are rolling, place your bets before Carmelo Anthony comes back.

"I just feel like I’m in a dream right now," Lin said. "Tomorrow is an off day. I can’t wait."

The Knicks are back in action on Valentine's Day versus the Toronton Raptors. NBA odds haven't been posted yet but considering it's the Raptors, the Knicks sixth cover in a row could go down.

Betting Analysis: Can it last? That's on your mind and every NBA bettor around the globe. Head coach Mike D'Antoni runs a point guard friendly offense, he was key in bringing Steve Nash to hall-of-fame levels.
Therefore, barring a glaring weakness in his game that is yet to be discovered, we think Lin will continue to be a valued betting asset for New York going forward. It's Anthony that could throw a wrench into the whole deal. Amare Stoudemire is coming back too, but he's proven to excel with a point-guard focussed offense. Melo is a black hole and could derail this suddenly pass-first offense. Luckily reports are that Anthony, out with a groin injury, isn't even practicing yet.

The Indiana Pacers haven't picked a good time to go into a slump – they're next in action on Tuesday night at home against the team sitting atop the NBA futures to win the championship this season.

The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on the NBA at Bovada.

The Pacers are riding a three-game losing streak into Tuesday's matchup with the Miami Heat, falling in consecutive outings to the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Denver Nuggets. That stretch has dropped Indiana to 17-10 on the season, and they're now only 13-14 against the spread.

And one of those ATS losses came at the hands of the Heat back on January 4, when Miami crushed them 118-83 as a 7.5-point favorite on Bovada's NBA betting lines. OVER bettors rode that Miami offensive outburst to a victory that night as well.

LeBron James tossed in 33 points and 13 assists for the Heat in that win, and he did it without any help from Dwyane Wade who sat out the game with a foot injury. Chris Bosh assumed the second-fiddle role that night with 22 points and six rebounds.

Danny Granger was held to just six points in that defeat for the Pacers, who got 16 points and 12 boards from Roy Hibbert on the day. Tyler Hansbrough was good for 14 points off the bench in the loss.

The Pacers haven't had much success against the Heat in recent seasons, winning just one of their last eight meetings and covering the posted spread in only two of those contests. The OVER/UNDER sits at 4-4 in those past eight matchups.

Heading into action this week the Heat were the 17/10 favorites at Bovada to win the NBA championship this season, while the Pacers were back at 35/1 odds to win it all.

The Atlanta Hawks start a five-game road trip tonight in Los Angeles against the Lakers and it’s probably a big of a good thing that the Hawks are getting out of Atlanta the way they have played at home of late. L.A., meanwhile, is back home after a 3-3 road trip. The Lakers are 5.5-point favorites on Bovada’s NBA basketball odds.

Back in Business. The biggest stars hit the hardwood. Bet on all the NBA action at Bovada!

Atlanta (18-10) is a wildly inconsistent team. On Sunday, the Hawks were clobbered at home 107-87 by Miami and it wasn’t that close. The Heat led 63-41 at halftime, scoring the most points in a half any team has against Atlanta this season. Joe Johnson was the highest-scoring Hawks starter with all of 12 points. This is a same Hawks team that won in Miami earlier this season and went to triple overtime in another game with the Heat before losing. Atlanta lost for the fourth time in its last five home games, the average margin in those defeats nearly 15 points. And Atlanta fell behind by at least 20 points in all four losses.

This starts a five-game road trip for Atlanta, and the last time the Hawks embarked on a trip of that length they went 4-1. But that’s misleading. All four wins came against teams that currently have losing records and three that still haven’t reached a double-digit win total.

The Lakers (16-12) are one of the best home teams in the NBA at 11-2. Los Angeles enters off a 94-92 win in Toronto on Sunday. Kobe Bryant hit the game-winning shot with 4.2 seconds left as L.A. nearly blew what was once an 18-point lead. Sunday marked the 16th time Kobe has hit a game-winning shot with five seconds or less remaining in a regular-season game. That leads the NBA since Bryant entered the league.

This is the only matchup of the season between these two. The Lakers swept two games a year ago, each by 14 points. Atlanta has lost five straight games (1-4 ATS) at the Lakers, last winning in February 2006. The Hawks are 13-1 against teams below .500 this year and 5-9 against teams over the mark. Atlanta is 1-4 ATS in its past five as a dog.

It’s the second of a back-to-back for Denver (17-12), which romped at home over Phoenix on Tuesday 109-92. Six Nuggets scored in double figures, led by Arron Afflalo’s 20. The Suns didn’t have either Steve Nash or Grant Hill. And Denver played without starting center Nene and backup Timofey Mozgov. Nene is likely out a few more days with a calf injury, while Mozgov hasn't played since Feb. 3 due to his ankle injury. Nene is fourth on the team in scoring (13.4 ppg) and leads Denver in rebounding (7.8 rpg). The Nuggets, who have lost five of their past seven overall, remain without injured leading scorer Danilo Gallinari for several more weeks due to an ankle injury.

Dallas (18-11) last played Monday, beating the L.A. Clippers 96-92 behind 22 points from Dirk Nowitzki to improve to 11-5 at home. It was the Mavs’ fourth straight win overall. Dirk has been a bit off from the field, going 12-of-35 from the floor in the past two games, but he also gone to the free throw line 21 times.

This is the third meeting of the season between these teams. Denver won at Dallas, 115-93, on Dec. 26. Ty Lawson had 27 to lead the Nuggets, with the Mavericks falling behind 33 points at one point. Dallas gave up 20 straight points in the second quarter and had a stretch of 14 straight missed shots during a 9:52 drought between baskets. Last Wednesday, however, Dallas won 105-95 at Denver with Dirk scoring 25. The Nugs had Nene in that one (16 points, 10 boards) but were without Gallinari, Mozgov and Corey Brewer. The Mavericks were without point guard Jason Kidd, and he's back.

Last week’s victory was the first for Dallas over Denver since Nov. 3, 2010. The Mavs are just 1-4 ATS in their past five home games. Denver is 1-4 ATS in past five vs. teams with a winning record. The road team has covered in the past six meetings between the teams.

Rose sat out Sunday's matchup with his continued back issues, which have him listed as day-to-day this week. C.J. Watson got the start in Rose's absence in that loss, pouring in 22 points and adding six assists.

Carlos Boozer also tossed in 22 points for the Bulls in that defeat, while Joakim Noah was good for 16 points and nine rebounds. Luol Deng was held to just 10 points.

The Celtics' Rajon Rondo, though, was the star of Sunday's game, putting up a triple-double with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists. Kevin Garnett had 13 points and 12 boards for Boston in that win, and Paul Pierce was limited to nine points.

Boston, which has had a mediocre start to the season, was actually listed as an underdog of 1.5 points at home on Sunday, giving them both the straight up and the against the spread victory in that OVER result.

Overall the Celtics are 5-5 straight up in their past 10 games against the Bulls, including an 88-79 home loss as a 1-point underdog when the teams met for the first time this season in January. Boston went 4-6 against the spread in those 10 contests.

For totals bettors, the OVER/UNDER sits at 4-5-1 in the last 10 games between the Celtics and Bulls.

Rose's back is definitely a concern for Bulls supporters, but they're still listed third at 5/1 odds to win the NBA championship this season at Bovada. The Celtics are farther behind on that futures list at 22/1 odds right now.

At the beginning of the NBA season, if the questioned was proposed “who will be the leader in 3 pointers made?” popular opinion would be probably Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics or Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Allen and Curry are both exceptional three point gunners, with Ray Ray holding the throne of the ultimate three point crown, having the all-time record in 3-pointers made in NBA history. Allen has made 2,666 three pointers in his career, and counting. However, to date this 2011-2012 NBA season, one man has stands alone head and shoulders above the pack, Orlando Magic 6’10″ forward-center Ryan Anderson. Point guard Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks will get back in action on Friday night as they play host to the lowly New Orleans Hornets at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks will be trying to run their winning streak against the Hornets to seven games, having picked up six straight victories over them since 2009. New York has also managed to cover the spread in seven straight against the Hornets.

Overall the Knicks are 6-4 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 meetings with the Hornets, with the OVER/UNDER going 4-6 in those 10 contests.

And with the Linsanity in full swing the Knicks are getting a little more attention on the NBA futures lists right now; New York sat at 18/1 at Bovada at last update to win the NBA championship this season, and at 10/1 to claim the Eastern Conference crown.

The Hornets, by far the worst team in the Western Conference, are off those boards.

In their last game on Wednesday night the Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings 100-85 at home, getting 15 points and 10 rebounds from Landry Fields. Lin was held to 10 points in that win, but also picked up a career-best 13 assists.

In Lin's previous game on Tuesday in Toronto he hit the game-winning shot as time expired and put up 27 points and 11 assists. His hot stretch of starts began against the Jazz last Monday when he scored 28 points; Lin followed that up with quality games against the Wizards (23 points), Lakers (38 points), and Timberwolves (20 points).

The Boston Celtics appear to be fading again, as the C’s look to avoid a fourth straight loss on Monday night as they visit the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks for the only time this season. Boston (15-15) had an inexplicable 96-81 loss at sorry Detroit on Sunday. The Celtics were shorthanded in the game as forwards Kevin Garnett (family illness) and Brandon Bass both sat (knee injury). Bass is out again tonight and Garnett likely is. Chris Wilcox would likely start again for Boston in KG's spot and draw the main task of trying to slow Dirk Nowitzki. Wilcox scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in Sunday’s start against Detroit. The Celtics had four technical fouls (two by Rajon Rondo, which saw him ejected in the third quarter), 24 turnovers, and 46 free throws allowed to the Pistons.

Dallas (20-12) fell victim to the Jeremy Lin phenomenon on Sunday as the Mavs had their six-game winning streak snapped in a 104-97 loss at New York. Lin torched the Mavericks for 28 points and a career-high 14 assists. The Knicks reeled off 17 straight points in the first quarter, fell behind by 12 in the third, then pulled it out to beat the Mavericks for only the third time in the last 20 meetings. Nowitzki led Dallas with 34 points. Dallas coughed it up 19 times in Sunday's loss, moving the Mavs to 1-3 on the season when they commit at least 19 turnovers.

The Celtics and Mavericks met Jan. 11 in Boston, a 90-85 Dallas win. Nowitzki drove past Garnett for the go-ahead layup with 5.1 seconds left, scoring 16 points to lead the Mavericks. Dallas led most of the game, but Paul Pierce hit a 3-pointer -- just his second basket of the night -- to tie it at 85 with 25 seconds to play. It was the Mavs’ third straight win in this series. Boston is 4-4 on the second nights of back-to-backs thus far (losing their last two). Celtics are 0-4 ATS in past four road games. But the road team has covered in past six meetings in this series.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had problems covering spreads against the Memphis Grizzlies lately; can they turn that trend around when the teams meet up again on Tuesday night? Find them on the NBA betting line at Bovada.

The Sixers have managed to pay off for their supporters on the NBA odds list just once in the past three years against the Grizzlies, and that was back in a 120-101 road win as a 6.5-point underdog in April 2010.

That result has Philadelphia just 1-5 against the spread versus Memphis since the start of the 2008/09 season, even though they did win three of those six games straight up.

Tuesday night will mark the first meeting of the season between Philadelphia and Memphis; last year the Grizzlies beat the Sixers 99-94 on the road in January and 102-91 at home in February, of course covering the posted spread at the sportsbooks both times.

Totals bettors have seen the OVER/UNDER go 5-4-1 in the 10 most recent matchups between the two teams.

Philadelphia will want to put forward a better effort on Tuesday than they did in their last game on Sunday – a 92-91 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. That made it three consecutive losses for the Sixers, who are suddenly slumping.

Jrue Holliday led the way with 20 points for the Sixers in their losing cause on Sunday.

The Sixers won't have center Spencer Hawes in the lineup on Tuesday night, as he's now out indefinitely with an Achilles injury. Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph is expected to be able to return to action in early March; he's been out since January with a knee injury.

The San Antonio Spurs just lost star swingman Manu Ginobili and backup center Tiago Splitter for two weeks apiece to various injuries. Yet San Antonio kept rolling along Monday night by winning 106-102 in Utah for the Spurs’ NBA-high 11th win in a row. San Antonio looks to make it a dozen tonight in Portland, not usually an easy place to win. And the Blazers are 4-point favorites on Bovada’s NBA basketball odds.

Both Ginobili and Splitter were hurt in Saturday’s win over the Clippers. Ginobili suffered an oblique injury, while Splitter has a calf strain. Tony Parker had 23 points and 11 assists on Monday to lead the Spurs, while Richard Jefferson hit a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left -- only his second field goal all night. It was San Antonio’s seventh straight road win on its nine-game Rodeo Trip. No NBA team ever has won every game of a road trip longer than seven games.

Portland looked terrible at the Lakers on Monday, falling 103-92. Los Angeles reeled off a 37-4 run after Raymond Felton's game-opening 3-pointer for Portland. After scoring a franchise-low seven points in the first quarter, Portland got no closer than 10 points late in its fourth loss in six games. LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum scored 18 points apiece to lead Portland. Early in the day, the Blazers learned that Greg Oden, the one-time No. 1 overall pick, would officially miss the entire season (again) after undergoing yet another microfracture surgery on his left knee.

The Spurs defeated the Blazers 99-83 Jan. 13 in San Antonio as the Spurs held a 44-17 advantage in bench scoring and Parker finished with 20 points and nine assists. The Spurs' win snapped a three-game Blazers winning streak in the series. The Blazers have won six in a row and hold a 45-26 edge in Portland, however.

San Antonio is 7-0 ATS in its past seven as a dog and 8-0 ATS in past eight vs. teams with a winning record. Blazers are 9-2 ATS in past 11 after a loss. San Antonio is 1-7 ATS in past eight in Portland.
