The US state of New Hampshire has come up with a sneaky way to offer online gambling by taking advantage of what might be called a ‘loophole’ in American gambling laws. The current rules about online gambling in the US come from a law called the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which officially came into full effect on June 01. The UIGEA explicitly forbids American banking institutions from helping players move money to and from online gambling sites in an attempt to make it difficult to for Americans to gamble on the internet.
In a very clever move, the state of New Hampshire has come up with a way around the problem. A new system called PlayNowNH, which is meant to launch on July 01, gets around the UIGEA payment processing ban by selling players physical lottery tickets that let them play games on the internet.
Each PlayNowNH ticket one will contain a special code that gives the purchaser credit at a dedicated online gambling site. Winners must then return to the point of purchase to collect any prizes they win. This system avoids the problem of moving money to and from online gambling accounts since the actual purchasing and prize collection are done physically and in person.
Tickets will come in a variety of denominations, up to a max of $100. A variety of games will be available at the time of launch, including baseball, super slots, New Hampshire Poker and speed bingo.

Sad news from the world of tennis – which is in the midst of arguably its biggest tournament of the year at Wimbledon, which you can bet on with Bodog’s tennis odds – as former world No. 1 Jennifer Capriati was rushed to a hospital on Sunday morning after paramedics responded to a call for a drug overdose.
A spokeswoman for Capriati says she is recovering from an "accidental overdose" of prescribed medication. The call came from a hotel in Riviera Beach in Florida and the 34-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains Monday. Unfortunately drugs aren’t new to Capriati. In May 1994, she was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana after being caught in a Florida hotel room with two drug addicts. She was 18 at the time and then voluntarily entered a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. In recent years she has suffered from a persistent shoulder injury and admitted to feeling depressed and having suicidal thoughts in a 2007 interview with the New York Daily News. So obviously that makes one wonder if it really was an “accidental” overdose. And why was she at a hotel that was less than a mile from her million-dollar home?
Capriati’s tennis career began as a 13-year-old and really gained international recognition in 1991 at age 15 when she reached the semifinals of Wimbledon after defeating then defending champion Martina Navratilova. But off-the-court issues soon caught up with Capriati and she didn’t play at all in 1995. However, in 1996 she staged a comeback that culminated in a No. 1 world ranking and she captured three Grand Slam titles during 2001 (French and Australian Opens) and 2002 (the Aussie again). She won 14 career titles overall, including those three Slams, and a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.

This _sounds like_ the state of New Hampshire -- or an agent of the state -- is acting as the "financial institution" in this case and being an agent of the state immunes them from UIGEA? Could be interesting to see how well this works. . .

California, New Jersey, even New Hampshire's relatively modest new online gambling laws - all have been scuttled in the last few weeks by powerful opposition group, from New Jersey's organization of casino owners to the influential group of tribes who control most of California's existing casino market. Combine this with the inability of the federal U.S. government to overturn the UIGEA, and it looks like new online gambling laws are never gonna happen. What do you think? Will the U.S. ever come up with new online gambling laws? Would that even be a good thing?

The senate bill to legalise internet gambling in the state of California was cancelled yesterday, until further notice, due to strong opposition from the groups that initially instigated the bill.
(According to senator Wright, who cancelled the gambling vote before his state senate committee yesterday: “I think the bill probably needs more work.” He added: “What is clear is that it is probably moving in the right direction – and I'll never get a consensus.” He still wants the bill to be passed but claims it is unlikely to happen this year.)

I was just wondering what site in the merge network did you people find to be the best i played at reefer for a while then lots of there game were droped now i play at carbon but i have herd there are many others just looking for some feedback about others are the games the same or better promos..I think carbon is grat but i am up to explore others if it worth it so let me know

McLear said the system of paying out welfare benefits via bank cards was created under Schwarzenegger's predecessor, Democrat Gray Davis. The welfare cards, Electronic Benefit Transfer cards, look like ordinary debit cards. They allow welfare recipients to access cash and food stamps.
The Times reports that Schwarzenegger had threatened to eliminate the state welfare program in his May budget proposal.

Chinese police smashed an illegal gambling gang that hoped to score big from the World Cup, with the alleged ringleader "Dark Brother" accused over dealings worth $14.7 billion, a newspaper said on Tuesday.
The gang accused of running a sophisticated and secretive online betting network since 2006, was broken up from June 7, days before the start of the World Cup, according to the Guangzhou Daily, the official newspaper of the capital of China's southern province of Guangdong. Many of the wagers were placed there.
China's scandal-plagued soccer team failed to qualify for the World Cup, but that has not dampened the enthusiasm of Chinese fans. Quite a few have wagered on matches, despite the ruling Communist Party's ban on gambling. The government allows only small wagers through state-run sports "lotteries."
"Off the field, the enthusiasm of ordinary fans to take part in football gambling has been growing and the talons of gambling gangs extend across the country and soccer betting is rampant," said the Chinese-language daily.
Police arrested the gang leader, a Hong Kong man going by the nickname "Dark Brother," when he was leaving a cocaine-fueled nightclub party in the early hours of June 7 in Shenzhen, a city neighboring Hong Kong, it said.
"The case of the gambling gang involves accumulated sums of over 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion)," said the report, citing police claims. It did not explain the bases for that estimate, leaving it unclear how much was won back by gamblers.
"The black hand behind this massive gambling racket was a gambling baron who hid in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong area," it said.
"Dark Brother" and his subordinates ran a tightly organized network across southern and eastern China that took bets through the Internet. The report said the gang leader's surname was Li.
Another leader in the gang was a woman who went by the nickname "Old Cat," the report said. She helped run the operation from an ordinary-looking apartment, where she lived with her child, it said.
Neighbors said they had no idea. "She was the ringleader of a gambling gang? I never saw that," a neighborhood management official told the paper.

Online gambling company PartyGaming said Tuesday that its second quarter revenue is expected to be up around 28%, mainly due to the acquisitions of Cashcade and the World Poker Tour as well as strong growth in its online casino arm. The group said revenue is likely to be down around 2% compared to the first quarter as the relatively unexpected results in the World Cup -- and the subsequent favorable impact on sports betting margins -- was more than offset by a greater-than-expected adverse impact on other parts of the business. The group said that its online poker arm in particular had suffered from an 8% to 9% fall in the number of players during the World Cup.

The estimates show that over one million California residents gamble over the Internet, and this could bring in over $2 billion in extra revenue for the state of California. The native tribes in California oppose online gambling because they feel that it threatens their income potential and it will take away jobs at land-based casinos. The new legislation would have set-up legal online gambling within the state but it would have made it a misdemeanor offense to gamble at an offshore casino.

Companies can now run marketing and advertising campaigns on their channels as well as on YouTube’s site pages. There will be restrictions to protect young persons in which viewers will have to verify they are at least 18 years of age before they can view any such content.
Some companies have already started to taken advantage of the new legislation and it is expected that many of the big brands will be quick to follow.

The awards saw the groups recognized for their contribution to the industry in a wide number of categories, with names such as Playtech, Net Entertainment and Microgaming taking some of the awards.
Playtech managed to grab three titles: In the Poker Network of the Year category through its iPoker network, as Poker Software Supplier of the Year and through its Virtue Fusion Alderney brand for Bingo Supplier of the Year. Microgaming also took a multiple award as RNG Casino Supplier of the Year and through its Spin 3 licensee as Mobile Supplier of the Year.
