A Canadian citizen, caught up in the U.S. government’s attempt to crack down on online gambling, pleaded guilty to illegally moving gambling funds and will be sentenced by a New York judge in September.
Seven independent bookmakers have joined forces online to compete with rival chain operators for a slice of the 1.5 billion euro internet gambling trade.
Directors of new site BetPack.com said it is hoped the project will safeguard the jobs of 500 betting shop staff around the country.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is set to take effect in less than three weeks. The UIGEA makes it illegal for financial institutions to knowingly process gambling payments to and from online gambling sites.
