Jennifer Lopez has definitely kept her name in the news with a music renaissance and a high-profile spot as a judge on American Idol, so her professional career is back to where it once was. Her personal life has also seemed to recover nicely from her divorce from Marc Anthony and you know you have a good thing going when you have to refute rumors that you’re engaged.

Lopez and Anthony split last year and Lopez has since taken up with Casper Smart, a backup dancer who is 18 years younger than the 42-year-old (who will be 43 on July 24th). Although, it should be said she still takes very good care of herself. The two started seeing each other last fall and things have gotten serious to the point that websites have started rumors that the two are engaged. Lopez has since come out with a statement on her website saying that the rumors are untrue but she does appear to be happy with Smart, who will serve as the choreographer of her tour later this year.

Lopez doesn’t even really talk about her relationship with Smart in interviews, perhaps scaling back on letting the media into that side of her life after relationships with Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Ben Affleck and Anthony (the latter two were marriages).

Will Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart get engaged in 2012?
Yes 5/1
No 1/8

Bovada odds makers feel as though Lopez is true to her word and they have released odds of 1/8 that she will not be engaged in 2012 but there is a tasty 5/1 that she will and it could go either way. Given her track record, it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to think that Lopez would get married again, but it could also go the other way and she may want to take it extra slow after her past. You’ll surely hear about it if Lopez decides to tie the knot again.

She deserves to be happy. I just hope that she found the right man.

With some states readying to start online gambling, Native American tribal leaders are calling on the federal government to step in as it did with brick-and-mortar gambling and establish regulations that ensure tribes get a piece of the action without having their revenue taxed and their sovereignty compromised.

A new set of regulations is unlikely before this year's election, but recent events have given momentum to efforts to launch online gambling in some states. Since a December 2011 Department of Justice opinion that not all Internet gambling is banned by federal law, Delaware has legalized online gambling and Nevada is closing in on making online poker possible. New Jersey, too, is working to make it a reality.

Zynga is about to take its social gaming prowess to new heights.

So enough with that silly fake money in Farmville and the lack of real-world thrills in Zynga Poker. The country's favorite social game company is looking to expand into the world of sin and will offer a poker game that allows players to gamble actual money sometime in the first half of 2013.

However, don't expect it to be hosted - or perhaps even playable - in the US, where online gambling is all but expunged due to several state laws banning the practice.

The announcement came from Zynga CEO Mark Pincus during a conference call today with investors. Just looking at some of the reports when it comes to this market makes it very easy to realize why the company would want to go down this new path. For example, Zynga users currently spend an average of $2 - $3 per month.

As if ripped from a James Bond movie scene, a woman, dressed in a towel having just emerged from the shower, dries her hair and says, "five minutes." As the camera glides across a very James Bond-like abode, James Bond, himself aka Pierce Bronson, walks into the frame and intones, "take your time."

Bond puts on his cufflinks, grams his coat from the closet, grabs his Visa card and straightens his tie. As his half-his-age date emerges dressed to the nines in an evening gown, Bond asks, "Are you ready?"

He then presses a button revealing his plans for the evening. Much to the dismay of his date, it doesn't look like there will be fancy dining and other Bond-like activities. Oh no. But, no matter, Bond seems pretty pleased with himself even if his date wishes she were in an actual Bond movie with a much more Bond-like character who would lavish her with an evening worthy of, well, Bond.

This being a commercial, the date will have to wait for her action-filled evening and, instead, enjoy and evening of super exciting online gambling.

The game merger and acquisition craze is still hot in 2012 thanks to the rapid growth in the number and size of game deals this year.

Data from the Corum Group, a mergers and acquisitions services company, and Digi-Capital show that this year continues to be a hot one for the game industry, according to a presentation by Jim Perkins and Alina Soltys at the Casual Connect game conference in Seattle.

“Gambling and gaming has become a very important sector,” Perkins said. “Overall, M&A in gaming is a frenzy.”

Two big deals signal the shift that is happening this year toward mobile and cloud gaming. Zynga bought OMGPOP for at least $180 million as it sought to capture the benefits of the fast-growing mobile gaming title Draw Something. And Sony gave a big endorsement to cloud gaming with its $380 million acquisition of Gaikai.

Many Hollywood marriages don't have a happy ending and apparently we've got one more to add to the books. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are headed for divorce.

The news came as somewhat of a surprise last week and the gossip rags hadn’t really seen this coming. Often times the paparazzi will have some sort of insight into the matters – as they did with Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – but that was not the case here.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet Entertainment Props!

Rumor has it that Cruise’s beliefs in Scientology pushed Holmes to the edge. She was concerned about their young girl Suri being forced into Scientology as well and she wanted to pull away before it was too late.

Holmes filed for divorce in New York, which could pave the way for her to receive full custody. The State of New York has shown a history to side with the mothers and grant them full custody. Had she opted to file like somewhere in California, she would be less likely to get her wish.

For Cruise, it seems like 33 is his number. All three of his marriages have ended when his wives were 33-years-old, which is a little of a coincidence when you consider that 33 is an important number in Scientology as well.

In any case, Cruise is back on the market, which should make plenty of women happy. He’s long been one of the most sought after men in Hollywood and now he’s definitely available. For Holmes, she’s still very much in her prime and should have no problem finding someone to keep her company.

The two sides are hoping for an amicable settlement but we’ll get a feel for how contentious things can get in the coming weeks and months.

A sad story.

3G Studios, a video game developer in Reno, Nev., is betting on online gambling. The private company, with 47 U.S. employees, has hired almost 80 new contractors in India and China and expects to have 200 dedicated solely to making gambling games by the end of the year. 3G is one of a handful of game makers jockeying for gambling business, expecting states, hungry for new tax revenue, to open the floodgates for Internet casinos.

At the close of a Senate Committee on Indian Affairs oversight hearing Thursday (July 27), Chair Dan Akaka made this announcement:

As always, it is our job on the Committee to make sure tribes achieve parity in any federal legislation and to amplify the voices of Native peoples so that their concerns are heard in the halls of Congress. That is why I have developed a draft online gaming bill — the Tribal Online Gaming Act of 2012. This bill is intended to further the dialogue with tribes, my colleagues here in the Senate, and other affected stakeholders.

The internet gambling operators who offer their gambling and wagering services to the people in the Irish online gambling market will have to consider the additional expenses that they will have to pay in taxes. This is due to the fact that these operators will be taxed a 1% govt. tax. This is confirmed following the proposal that was published by Michael Noonan, the Finance Minister of Ireland.

This proposal was published in the amendment of the Betting Bill 2012. This bill states that the govt. will apply a new tax of 1% on the betting operators. It also states that internet gambling exchanges such as Betfair will have to be taxed with a 15% tax on the gross profit of the exchange.

In an investigative article published on atlantaunfiltered-com, David Michaels has released another article tying Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, to gambling and sports betting, this time while a member of the Legislature.

Michaels quotes two Atlanta-area printers as saying Rogers, while serving as a freshman legislator, regularly oversaw production of a sports schedule mailing that advertised telephone sports handicapping services and an offshore casino.

The printers said, between 1998 and 2004, Rogers was their contact and materials provider for “Schedules USA.”

Americans love to bet. For decades, Hollywood has been making sweeping epics about gangster life, featuring wise guys who run bookmaking operations. Unfortunately, more often than not, these movies end badly for the numbers man. The fact is most gambling is illegal in the United States. Some states and federal laws permit lotteries, horse track betting, and of course, bets can be placed at casinos throughout the country.Every day, millions of potentially taxable dollars travels out of the U.S. and into the hands of offshore sportsbook operators.

The current U.S. policy on bookmaking, and gambling in general, are both hypocritical and confusing. There's a growing movement to capture these tax dollars and to have online sports wagering legalized. Bookie software services, such as PayPerHead-com, make it easy for bookmakers to take bets from American gamblers. If the government were to consider the potential tax windfall, the call to legalize bookmaking would become stronger.

It’s going to be an action-packed Olympics and we’re just talking about the athletes. Hope Solo wasn’t kidding when she said there’s plenty of hooking up in the Olympic Village as the committee has provided the athletes with 150,000 condoms for the 17-day event. But I digress.

We’re focused on a different type of action here: the best bets. The Games get underway today and Bovada Sportsbook has posted more lines on the Olympics than ever before. The good news this year (compared to 2008) is that the Games take place in London, which means the time zones won’t be as wonky and we’ll get to watch most of the action here in North America.

Without further ado, here are the three best bets:

***
Bovada Sportsbook has a full menu of 2012 Olympic betting lines including live betting for all of the major events.
***

Basketball Betting: Team USA to win both men’s (1/12) and women’s (1/10)

The United States is expected to take home more medals than any other country and two of which that will be the easiest gets will come on the hardwood. Sure, neither bet pays out a whole lot but is there anything more entertaining than watching the men and women dominate the basketball world?

The days of the Dream Team might be done but there are few things better than watching a slew of NBA and WNBA stars school the rest of the world.

Tennis Betting: Serena Williams

One of the real treats of the 2012 Games in London is that the tennis action will take place at Wimbledon. Normally, we might see the event take place on some obscure court but this year, we’ll see the competition for gold take place at the most prestigious tennis club in the world.

Serena Williams is fresh off a win at Wimbledon just weeks ago and now she’ll aim for a gold medal. When she’s on her game, nobody is better and she’ll be a real treat to watch at the Games if that’s the case.

Beach Volleyball Betting: Eye Candy

Alright, so maybe this isn’t the “best bet” in the sense that there’s an easy pick but I can tell you one thing: you won’t want to miss this event.

The women’s beach volleyball action will surely have you on the edge of your seat as a slew of female contestants hit a ball around in a skimpy bikini on the sand. Maybe that’s oversimplifying it but the view is one of the best bets in the 2012 Games.

The Queen turned Bond girl in a blockbusting opening ceremony as the London 2012 Games opened in spectacular fashion.

There were moments of humour and emotion and some stunning surprises in the breathtaking ceremony capturing the best of Britain and masterminded by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle.

The Queen stole the show with her movie acting debut as she joined James Bond. In a scene filmed in advance and screened for the first time, Bond actor Daniel Craig arrives at Buckingham Palace in a dinner jacket, striding past the corgis towards the royal study.

"Good evening Mr Bond," says the Queen, before they leave together, apparently heading towards the Olympic Stadium in a helicopter.

Some Native American tribal leaders are calling on the federal government to regulate online gambling as it did with brick-and-mortar gambling to ensure they are not kept from launching their own games.

The tribal leaders also say federal regulation can better protect their sovereignty and ensure their revenues are not taxed. Tribal leaders and gaming officials testified on the issue at a Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing Thursday.

A lawyer representing Snoop Dogg says the American rapper has been banned from entering Norway for two years after trying to enter the country with a small amount of marijuana last month.

Holger Hagesaeter, the rapper's legal representative in Norway, told The Associated Press on Saturday that his client "can live with the decision" and has no immediate plans to appeal it.

Snoop Dogg, whose name is Calvin Broadus, was on his way to a music festival in southern Norway in June when sniffer dogs detected eight grams of marijuana in his luggage. He was also carrying more cash than is legally allowed and was fined 52,000 kroner ($8,600) after admitting to the two offenses, the lawyer said.
