PartyGaming has pulled of a major coup, signing a deal with at least one big US casino to provide an online poker platform for the US market when it is regulated, Britain's Daily Mail has reported.
Deal Struck
It is rumored that the Gibraltar-based online gaming company signed a b2b deal with at least one if not two of the major US casinos - Boyd Gaming, MGM, Las Vegas Sands and Caeasars.
PartyGaming is about to merge with Austrian company bwin to become the biggest firm in the industry, and these deals would give it a foothold in the US online gaming market in the event that online poker and gambling are soon legalized by the federal government.
Legal dispute
Many European companies, PartyGaming included, left the US following the passing of the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which effectively outlawed online gambling in the country.

What a welcome the 42-year-old singer received, together with her husband Rene Angelil, her 10-year-old son and the twins were all welcomed by a massive crowd of fans as they arrived at Caesar’s Palace yesterday in preparation for her residency in Vegas.
Fans of Celine know that she isn’t a newcomer to the Las Vegas scene, with her last show A New Day…Live in Las Vegas from 2003-2007 grossing over $400 million and definitely helping add to her superstar status (well, in certain circles).
It sounds like she’ll be one of the hardest working mommies in Las Vegas and thank goodness for that multi-million dollar paycheck to help ease the pain a bit.
Fans of Celine can catch her act at the Caesar’s Palace starting on March 15th which is set to include a 31 piece orchestra and fab visual effects.

Adelson revealed his plans to build a Las Vegas-style strip in Spain. If completed, the $20 billion project would make Spain one of the most recognizable gaming destinations in Europe, and a major competitor for the top gaming destination in the world.
Several years ago, Adelson took a chance when his company was struggling. Adelson invested millions of dollars of his own fortune to bring casinos to Macau. The resorts have turned into some of the most successful casinos in the world, and Macau has become the gaming capital, surpassing Nevada.
Recently, Adelson has attempted to branch out from his success in Macau. Sands has built a property in Singapore that is receiving rave reviews and has been highly successful. Now, Adelson has set his sights on Europe, a relatively untapped area of the world when it comes to American gaming companies.
Adelson has already looked into what he would need in order to build the facility. The gaming giant wants concessions from the Spanish government that he could acquire the land necessary to build the gaming complex. He also would want to be assured that he could build the casino complex in a timely manner, and that he would receive all necessary permits swiftly.
Las Vegas gaming companies have started to expand out of the US at the same time that smaller companies are opening casinos throughout the country. Dozens of states have expanded their casino industries in the past couple of years, and staying one step ahead, Las Vegas companies started expanding overseas. Las Vegas and Atlantic City have both been hurt by expansion in surrounding states.

They were supposed to be speaking to city council Monday night about the proposed mega casino at BC Place. But the group "Vancouver, Not Vegas" says the second delay of a public hearing is actually working in their favour.
The group's Sandra Garossino says the extra couple weeks means more time to mobilize and get names on the list of speakers against the development.
"Absolutely, there's no question about it. The public is fully enagaged in this now and they want to be heard," she insists. "We're just trying to receive it all, and co-ordinate it and get people out to the hearing on Monday, March 7. We've just had a flood of inquiries and interest."
She says it also gives them more times to collect signatures on their online petition and add to the list of highprofile people against the project -- including well-known architects and former politician. Some of the names on that list: George Puil, former city councillor; Peter Ladner, former city councillor; Yosef Wosk, Order of BC; Ray Corrado, eminent SFU criminologist; Doug McArthur, SFU Public Policy; Dr. Colin Campbell, criminologist; Frieda Granot, Sauder School of Business.
The proposed complex would include two towers, six restaurants, and entertainment venues in addition to an expanded casino.

Florida’s Business and Consumer Affairs Subcommittee have a hearing this week to discussion gambling expansion.
Lawmakers in Florida’s Senate have begun legislation in an effort to bring casino resorts to the state. South Beach has been considered an ideal location to develop casinos in Florida but any movement on this issue has been met by opposition from Miami-Dade officials.
That leaves Fort Lauderdale as the leading location for casino expansion, but other counties are also being considered. It is also thought that many Las Vegas gaming companies are targeting Florida to help out with some tough economic times in Nevada.
Reportedly, Florida Governor Rick Scott has also met with Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson since taking the job last November.

MTV has, over the year, attracted millions of viewers to their Spring Break specials and this year the network is upping the ante. In past years, the week-long event was held in tropical paradise locations such as Mexico and Florida.
The 2011 edition of the show will be heading to Sin City. Producers have decided to bring a grown-up feel to the festivities of the week, with only twenty-one year old college students and older being able to participate.
Las Vegas is in need of a jolt, with attendance at casinos down over the past couple of years. MTV has been following spring breakers on their television Spring Break television show since 1986, and their following should help gives casinos in Nevada a boost.
"Spring break is the perfect opportunity for casinos in Las Vegas to bring in thousands of partying college students," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "With the World Series of Poker not until May, the spring break clientele will help bridge the gap before the influx of gamblers for the WSOP."
The Palms Casino Resort near the Las Vegas Strip is the lucky recipient of the MTV audience. The Palms will welcome the additional thousands of customers at a time when bringing in gamblers has been a chore. The Palms is no stranger to MTV, as the casino resort played host to MTV's Real World back in 2002.
One of the main concerns for all involved will be ensuring that underage drinking and gambling do not take place. The Palms has already asserted that there will be increased security, and that only those over twenty-one will be permitted at the pool and on the gaming floor.

The Mob Experience Museum located in the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, dedicated to the lives of some of the most notorious gangsters in the U.S., is being sued by the daughter of Sammy Giancana a.k.a “Momo”, who is claiming that the museum owes her some serious cash as part of an agreement to act as a paid consultant.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, Antoinette Giancana is suing the museum for a total of $70,000 for providing the museum with artifacts and documents for the exhibition but Jay Bloom, who runs the museum tells a different story.
According to Bloom, Giancana was paid for her services and all artifacts provided to the museum and hasn’t been approached by any lawyers supporting her statements. As far as she is concerned, their financial arrangements are in the clear.
In response to Giancana’s charges bloom had this to say to the LV Sun, “Ms. Giancana was always resentful of the fact that The Las Vegas Mob Experience highlighted numerous famous individuals related to the history of organized crime and the role they had in the building of Sin City. She wanted this attraction to be the Sam Giancana show, with her as the spokesperson and shining star.”
The museum is set to have a grand opening this coming Tuesday as planned without interference from the Giancana Family. Other famous mobsters who are part of the exhibition are Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, and Tony Spilatro who was known as a violent hitman who took care of business for the mob.

The success of Singapore casinos has been lost on nobody. Analysts are now starting to respond to the success by changing the stock expectations of the companies that have properties in Singapore. The latest projections in terms of revenue are almost $3 billion in 2010.
Resorts World Sentosa is the big draw in Singapore, not only bringing a casino to the country, but also a Universal Studios theme park. The resort is bringing in both gamblers and families, drawing revenue from several different areas of entertainment.

Adelson risked his entire fortune on Macau at a time when others were unsure where the area would be profitable. The move into Singapore was an easy one of Adelson after the Macau success.
The success overseas has put a damper on spirits in Las Vegas. The old gaming capital of the world has been struggling for several years. The recession hurt casinos in Sin City, but they also lost many of their high rolling customers from Asia. The Asian gamblers now have casino resorts much closer to home, and no longer need to travel across the world to enjoy a nice casino.
