Nadal has qualified for the World Tour Finals seven times in his career (excluding 2017), he has never managed to win the title here (2 Runner-Up, 3 Semi-Finals & 2 Round Robin).

Nadal has the best collective head to head record versus rest of the field at World tour Finals in London (52-19). Nadal has lost just one competitive match since losing to Kyrgios in Cincinnati (vs Federer at Shanghai Masters) and the Spaniard is just three wins away from hitting the 70 match wins milestone for the sixth time in his career (2005, 2007-08, 2010 & 2013).
Goffin will be making his second appearance at World Tour Finals, he came in as an alternate option in 2016 and replaced Monfils who withdrew during the tournament. The Belgian just got a chance to play one match and that ended in a straight-sets defeat to Djokovic (1-6 2-6).

Goffin has won two of his four career ATP Tour titles in 2017 and it's turning out to be one of the best season in his career (58/23). The Belgian #1 is optimistic about his chances against Nadal in London “Here there is no bad bounce, you can take the ball early, earlier than on other surfaces, you can do a lot more winners, so that’s what I’m going to try against him in my first match. But it’s not easy, he’s such a great fighter".

Nadal has never lost to Goffin in three previous meetings (H2H 3-0), but Goffin put up a great show in their most recent meeting at Madrid Masters (Clay), the first-set was a close battle with Nadal winning the match 7-6 6-3. Nadal is having an issue with his knee at the moment, he struggled against Chung and Cuevas at Paris Masters before eventually retiring from the event to treat his knee and get himself fit for the WTF. When Chung and Cuevas can take take advantage of it, definitely Goffin can, but we have to wait and see how freely Nadal moves on the court.

Nadal when asked about his knee on last Friday, "I’m doing my best. I hope, if I’m not ready by Monday I won’t be here. I don’t have a decision, I’m going to play".
