This Saturday, October 2, Bodog is hosting a special series of ten satellites in its Championship Series where over 35 players are going to get their chance at a seat in the Main Event with buy-ins ranging from $20+2 to $69+6. Sunday sees a group of Last Chance satellites that offer a final batch of twelve seats for the BPOV Main Event, including Turbo and Super Turbo tournaments.
Then, on Sunday evening, the BPO Championship Series Main Event kicks off. The $470+30 main event is the climax to a fantastic series of events and you can buy in directly or win through one of the satellites mentioned above. Again: it's about more than cash and fame; this year's winner gets a watch manufactured by the same team behind the WSOP bracelets, a fantastic piece of poker history that is well worth bragging about. There is no long run. You can´t play enough live poker tournaments to get reliable results. Live tourney poker = too slow (no sample size) = pure luck ?!

The rest of the Bodog Poker Open V Championship Series final table shook down as follows: braveheartEstyzBallin ($11,200); fishy23 ($9,000); t2gkingb51 $4,400; amity $3,400.
With such a massive prize pool, it was easy to see why so many players showed up, despite the high buy-in. In addition to the Championship Series finale, its lower-stakes sibling wrapped up as well and while the Contender had lower buy-ins and smaller prizes, the action at the $15,000 Guaranteed tournament was fast-paced and furious leading up to the final table. The Contender Series champion was palcemvglaz, who won $4,324 for their first-place finish and got their name in the Bodog Poker Open Hall of Fame. The rest of the top three finishers were I M A King, whose second-place finish got them a nice $2,767.36 while bornwinner86 earned their name with $1,746.89 added to their bankroll.
The rest of the final table in the contender series featured some familiar names to Bodog players: Nope 1124 ($1,383.68); johnpavlon ($968.57); Evil_E ($778,32); armstrizal21 ($605.36); B Pars ($380.51); Dimeboy ($294.03).
While Saturday featured a series of Championship Series Main Event satellites, there was one last regular Contender Series event. The $3,000 guaranteed tournament on Saturday gave the first place winner entry into the Bodog Poker Open V main event and the rest of the final table earned seats at the Contender Series Main Event. B Pars took that first place slot, earning $900. They were followed by shipme_chips ($600.00); JMG728 ($357.01); Lkport ($240.00); rjtii31 ($195.01); CarnePicante ($150.00); toddy ($105.01); PokerDavid ($77.99); haashkee ($51.01.)

After a few brutal hours of play at the single-table tournament, Vamplew beat Jamie Burland in heads-up action and won a very nice prize package worth over £50,000. He's now got a seat for every event in the UK & Ireland Poker Tour's second season, including the EPT London Grand Final next year. When he was asked how it felt to have won two tournaments in as many days, Vamplew said "It's pretty good; after yesterday, it's icing on the cake."
Jamie Burland, who won his seat at the event after taking the top spot in the UKIPT Brighton event was more than gracious in defeat. "I hoped David would get tired after yesterday but… he played really good."
His leap from online NL400 games to two major real-world tournament victories in as many days means that Vamplew is doing more than just playing "real good." He's becoming someone that the entire game is going to look towards and expect great things from.

Way to go on the ITM and 1st Place Finish.
Congrats tatonkkaa.
Well done.
Wow! I have won a lot in live games. It is a powerful thing looking into the eyes of your opponent and determining if he has cards. It is better than on line poker by far.
I think there is more skill playing live then online. You have the ability to read the player and with so much information around you it's a Total game instead of a half game like online poker is.

"The logical extension of the data we have on dementia is that a person who is still capable of working, who is mentally stimulated with a strong sense of purpose. is better off from the cognitive point of view continuing to engage in that position."
In his work, Cummings points out a French study from 2009 in which they took a look at 5,000 people. It showed that, across the board, activities like playing cards, even just twice a week, led to a risk reduction of 50% for all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers.
This is good news for more than just the people who are affected by the tragic disease and their families. Overall, if more people were mentally active in their golden years, we could be looking at a massive savings to the economy. If present markers continue to trend upward, Alzheimers will cost American taxpayers over $20,000,000,000,000 over the next 40 years.

Here’s what happened: For the past few weeks, the Bodog Girls were entering soccer fans to win tickets to that Fulham-Spurs’ game. Long story short, there were 37 lucky winners who got to meet in a Fulham bar – Perseverance Bar just off the Putney Bridge — before the match with 37 Bodog Girls. All 37 winners got go on the pitch at halftime with his own Bodog Girl, where one winner was randomly chosen in a human roulette wheel. That was Matt.
Ahrens, 28, and originally from Essex, was understandably happy, even doing a sprint down the pitch.
“The smile hasn’t dropped from my face and I don’t think it will do for a couple of days at least,” he said. “After I’d gone off on my run, my mates wondered why I hadn’t tried re-enacting a Klinsmann dive!”
So who is going with him to Vegas?
“I’m here with one of my mates so I think he’s going to be leaning heavily on my shoulder,” Matt said.
You know, assuming he doesn’t ask the Bodog Girl.
So do you really need any other reason to join Bodog?

The 30-year-old athlete, who turned pro in 1999, has consistently been ranked among tennis’ elite. James has emerged as one of the most recognized faces in the world of tennis over the past decade, thanks in part to a win versus Rodger Federer in a 2008 Beijing Olympic quarterfinal match.
The former participant on Bravo’s second edition of Celebrity Poker Showdown was most recently seen in action at the US Open where he advanced to the third round.
Blake has $6,916,309 in career earnings on the tennis court.
The information being sent to the outside companies is one of the basic building blocks on the site, a player's "Facebook ID" number. This number is a public part of every user profile and anyone can use that number to look up information about the user, even if they've set their preferences so that their information is supposed to be private. For users that aren't as careful, these outside companies can get complete access to their lives.
While the companies argue that this sort of surveillance is conducted anonymously and is benign, at least one firm involved has been using the numbers to build a database of users that they've been selling to interested parties.
"This is an even more complicated technical challenge than a similar issue we successfully addressed last spring on Facebook.com," a Facebook spokesman told the Journal, "but one that we are committed to addressing."

Comparing this victory to the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship, Flowers said: "It's much sweeter. It’s double the prize and it’s a lot more attention. Hopefully winning number two will help me get some recognition. Nobody even knew I won in Barcelona."
Flowers already has $2,221,562 in online winnings and with this victory, his live tournament earnings have leaped to $1.8 million. It was by no means an easy victory, however. He nearly found himself railbirding just before the final table after pushing all-in holding K-10 versus Michael Benvenuti's pocket kings. He was saved by a straight that was made on the river and that gave him enough chips to be the clear leader when final table of six players was determined.
When Benvenuti and Flowers met again at the showdown, play lasted less than 20 hands, which is remarkable for an event like the World Poker Tour. Flowers raised to 330,000 on the final hand while holding 9c3d and was called by Benvenuti. The flop hit: 9s6c5s and Flowers tossed in 420,000. Benvenuti went all-in and Flowers called. Unfortunately, Benvenuti's flush draw and gunshot didn't stand a chance once the turn hit: 4c and with a River that affected no one, Flowers won the championship.
Randal Flowers has won the Festa Al Lago stop on the World Poker Tour, defeating a field of 335 players and earning $831,500 for his first-place finish. At only 22 years old, he's become the youngest person to hold multiple World Poker Tour titles. In addition to the cash payout, Flowers won a bracelet from both the World Poker Tour and the Bellagio and has earned entry into the World Poker Tour World Championship.

Of course, while these players moved to the top of the heat, there were plenty of casualties who hit the rails as the field was narrowed down to 146 by the end of play. Included in this group were Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss, Anton Wigg, Luca Pagano, Faraz Jaka and WSOPE main event finalist Roland de Wolf.
While the Main Event was kicking off, the last few rounds of the previous events were winding down. A huge moment was Annette Obrestad's domination of the £5,000 heads-up event. Obrestad kept her typical cool and walked away with a very nice £120,000 for her dedicated play.
