A trio of potential online poker companies asked Nevada gaming regulators for another six months to test their software.
South Point Poker and Monarch Interactive, the first two companies granted real money Internet poker licenses in the Silver State, and American Casino and Entertainment Properties, LLC (ACEP), may now have until August to work on technology.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, officials with the three companies reported being in “various stages of testing.”
It’s still unclear when Nevada’s real money sites will go live, but Governor Brian Sandoval is already asking legislators for approval of interstate gaming.
That’s another factor the sites must consider in their technology, the Sun reported.
The Gaming Control Board in Carson City, Nevada approved the extension on Wednesday, and the companies must also get the OK from the Nevada Gaming Commission in two weeks.
Delaware also legalized online poker last year, and officials there hope to launch by September. As of this week, New Jersey also is another step closer to legalizing internet poker. Both could challenge Nevada to be the first state to shuffle up and virtually deal.
South Point, a brick-and-mortar casino on the far south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, was once expected to launch the first Nevada poker site, but those testing delays started to crop up in October and officials postponed the debut.
Monarch owns Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, and ACEP is the parent company of Stratosphere, on the north strip in Las Vegas.

Playtech has just released its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2012, revealing a 20% increase in revenue to €83.9 million from €69.6 million for the same quarter in 2011. In addition, full-year revenue was up by an impressive 53% to €317.5 million from €207.5 million in 2011, while gross profit was also up by 51% to €368.1 million from €243.6 million.
Breaking the 2012 revenue figures down further, growth in Asia increased by 96%, compared to 40% for Europe, although Asia’s share of Playtech’s revenue dropped to 67% during the year from 74% in 2011, while Europe’s share of revenue rose to 26% from 20% a year earlier.
Furthermore, the gaming software development company’s share of William Hill Online (WHO) generated record profits of €15 million for Q4, up a whopping 71% from Q4 2011, with the full-year share up by 40% to €50.6 million from €36.1 million in 2011. However, despite Playtech currently owning 29% of WHO, William Hill is expected to soon decide whether or not to exercise its option and buy-out the company’s stake in a deal that could potentially be worth around €400 million ($626 million). Conversely, Playtech saw earnings from its iPoker network fall with online poker revenue down 27% to €4 million in Q4 2012, and down by 18% to €17.8 million throughout the whole of 2012 from €21.8 million in 2011.
The overall results, however, were encouraging and commenting on Playtech’s prospects going forward, company Chief Executive Mori Weizer: ““The Company achieved robust organic growth and benefited from innovative cross-selling initiatives with several major licensees. Playtech’s new product and licensee launches, together with the launch of slots in Italy, have exceeded expectations and build further on the Company’s solid growth platform. As a result of the impressive performance in Q4 and since the beginning of the year, the board is very comfortable with market expectations for the full year and looks forward to 2013 with confidence.”

Although the snow has now gone, with it at least looking looking pretty while it lasted, we are still stuck with the cold temperatures that are not going to be gone for quite a few weeks just yet.
For those of us that struggle to cope with the harshness that winter brings, it means that we cannot get out and do anything that we enjoy and are stuck at home with not much but the television to keep us entertained.
However, if you have access to the internet and would like the chance to win a little bit of money, there is a solution to keeping your blood pumping throughout this cold period. Poker is no longer a game that is played in casinos or requires a group of friends to come over to your home; it can be played online at sites such as Full Tilt Poker at any given time.
Why Play Online Poker?
It is a game of immense mental and emotional strength that has you pitting all of your wits up against players that are based all across the world.
For those of you that might be worried that you have to risk lots of money, you would be surprised to know that you can literally play for just pennies, or even free if you really want to. In fact, this is the best suggestion if you are new to the game, as it will allow you to not only pick up the rules but also a few strategies along the way.
Once you feel comfortable enough to play for a little bit of money, you could ease yourself in slowly by playing at the micro stakes tables, where you will find players either at the same level or below you in terms of skill and experience.
Where To Play!
There are a large number of sites available, yet you really want to be playing on sites that have a large enough player pool to be able to give you a game in your chosen variation at any time of the day.
You will also want a site that can offer you the widest selection of methods in which you can get your money on to the site and more importantly get your winnings off of it.
Finally, you should be looking for a site that will have an interface that doesn’t confuse you and is easy to navigate and use. This is paramount as a new player will not want to see a wide range of preferences and selection options and will want to just get to their games easily.

Was it inevitable?
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom managed to crush the competition on Full Tilt Poker during the first two weeks of January, accelerating at light speed to a profit of more than $5 million on the year. However, since then, the young poker pro has dropped about $3.6 million of those winnings, according to tracking data from HighstakesDB-com.
He currently has just around $1.5 million in earnings for 2013.
The past seven days were some of the worst for the Swedish poker pro, as he lost more than $800,000 at the virtual tables on the site he endorses.
Other big losers on the week include Patrik Antonius and Ben Tollerene.
On the flip side, Rui Cao, Sebastien Sabic and Alex Luneau all won big. Antonius and Cao have been involved in a heads-up challenge of sorts.

In December, Macau saw its visitor numbers decline by 2% year-on-year and now the Chinese gambling resort has released its casino financial results for January revealing a 7.3% rise in revenue to $3.36 billion, a figure significantly lower than the 12% growth rate previously predicted by analysts.
In addition to the lackluster results, many casino companies also saw their share prices fall on Wednesday after it was reported that China was preparing to crack down on disreputable junket operators. These businesses usually help funnel VIP customers to casinos, who in turn account for roughly two-thirds of the total casino revenue in the former Portuguese colony. Commenting on the latest news, Union Gaming Group principal Grant Govertsen explained:
“Most of the recent arrests (and) detentions of junket associates appear to have close ties to Bo Xilai, the now-disgraced Chinese politician. It makes sense to us that in the context of the transition of power in Beijing that the reverberations would be felt in Macau.”
Amongst the companies reporting falls in their stock prices was Sands China Ltd. down 5.2%, Wynn Resorts Ltd. down 1.95%, and Las Vegas Sands Corp. down 0.79%, although analysts seem convinced any disruption to share prices will likely prove short-term. Furthermore, there is optimism that there is good news ahead and that this month’s revenue tally will more encouraging, especially with the Chinese New Year to come and falling on Sunday, February 10th. As Sterne Agee & Leach Inc. analyst David Bain explained:
“The Times report that Beijing is planning a crackdown after Chinese New Year is likely more disruptive to Macau stocks than Macau revenue, and any stock disruption will likely prove short-term.”
Overall for the year, Macau’s 35 casinos along with their 5,485 gaming tables and 16,585 slot machines generated a record $38 billion during 2012, an improvement of 14% over 2011.

Ongame is returning to the United States after parent company Amaya Gaming Group announced an agreement with Bally Technologies that will see Ongame integrated into a casino games suit on Bally’s iGaming platform.
The partnership will make Ongame the “preferred poker provider” for any online site that Bally chooses to operate in the United States, including the emerging online poker market in Nevada. Bally was the first company granted an online poker license in the state of Nevada last year. At present, efforts have stalled to bring games live in the state as testing continues on online poker technology.
In addition to online poker, the agreement with Bally Technologies will see Amaya integrate other casino content in the iGaming platform. Amaya Gaming Group VP of Business Development Darcy Krogh praised the deal saying, “We are delighted to add Bally as a partner in the US Market. They are an established global brand with great customer reach in the land based gaming industry. The combination of Bally and Amaya should provide casino operators and their players many benefits of a strong strategic alliance, bringing state of the art poker and casino content to the market.”
John Connelly, the VP of Business Development with Bally Technologies praised Ongame saying that, “Ongame is a world leader in the online poker space and we are excited to incorporate their best-in-class offering into the Bally iGaming platform. This relationship further validates the current transformation within the online gaming sector, which integrates traditional and online casino systems, allowing casino operators to protect their data, while offering their customers Best in Class content.”
Amaya Group purchased the Ongame Network back in October from bwin.Party after Shuffle Master backed out of a deal claiming that profits were not going to meet expectations. Ongame is one of the oldest online poker networks in the world and is home to PokerRoom.com, one of online poker’s first real money online poker sites.

The owner of the Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie’s casinos in Las Vegas have become the latest Nevada gaming company to offer free-to-play online poker.
American Casino & Entertainment Properties today launched acePLAYpoker.com. Gaming companies have launched poker sites over the last year in anticipation of laws that would allow limited online gaming, either by federal legislation or state-by-state.
Players can win prizes including show tickets and thrill rides at the Stratosphere and free hotel stays at American Casino & Entertainment casinos. Besides its Las Vegas properties, the company operates the Aquarius casino in Laughlin.
The Nevada Gaming Commission approved American Casino & Entertainment Properties as an interactive gaming operator in September.
“With the launch of this free to play website, we can now bring the excitement of play found at our properties to anyone with Internet access, no matter their location,” said Alec Driscoll, the company’s director of gaming development. “We are also positioning ACEP and acePLAYpoker.com for the potential approval of legalized online gaming.”

Amaya Gaming announced Monday that it has a signed a memorandum of understanding with Bally Technologies to integrate Amaya’s Ongame poker platform as well as its suite of casino games into Bally’s iGaming Platform. The agreement will allow Bally’s to continue on the path to launching an intrastate online poker site in Nevada.
Bally Technologies was the first company to receive an online gaming license in Nevada, the same day as rival International Game Technology, back in June 2012. While Bally had the backend systems and the gaming experience to likely make it a good online poker licensee, it never had the software with which to offer an actual poker product. Enter Amaya Gaming, providing the Ongame poker platform for Bally to use in its partnerships with land-based casinos.
Ongame will be Bally’s “preferred poker provider,” meaning that Bally’s is not handcuffed to Ongame. If Bally’s wants to partner with another poker software firm and offer multiple products, it is free to do so.
In September 2012, Bally Technologies struck a deal with American Casino and Entertainment Properties, LLC (ACEP), to provide it with an online poker platform. ACEP is the parent company of the iconic Stratosphere casino, located on the extreme north end of the Las Vegas strip. ACEP also owns the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, Nevada and two Arizona Charlie’s casinos in Las Vegas.
Coincidentally (though likely not), ACEP launched a new free-to-play online poker in the United States Tuesday using the Ongame poker platform. “acePLAY Poker” is play chip only, though real Stratosphere-related prizes are available to be won.
ACEP was one of three licensed companies to be given a six month extension by the Nevada Gaming Control Board last week to continue testing their software. Of course, it now appears that ACEP did not actually have software at the time, but likely knew that its partner, Bally Technologies, was close to inking the deal with Amaya Gaming.
“We are delighted to add Bally as a partner in the US Market,” said Darcy Krogh, VP Business Development of Amaya Gaming Group, in a press release, “They are an established global brand with great customer reach in the land based gaming industry. After New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie made a hugely favorable decision last week on an online gaming bill that was resting in his hands, state lawmakers will have to approve some minor changes before sending it back to him for signature.
It’s extremely likely Christie would sign this time around, after straight-up vetoing a similar measure in 2011 and then electing on a conditional veto in 2013.
State Sen. Ray Lesniak, sponsor of the bill, told Card Player last week that lawmakers will vote on the changes within a few weeks. According to the Press of Atlantic City, that date has been set as Feb. 26, and then Christie will have 45 days to sign.
It’s unclear how long he would take this time around, after he elected to run out the clock after the legislation was presented to him at the tail end of 2012.
This means that New Jersey, with more than 8.8 million people, will have legal online poker by mid-April. However, it doesn’t mean the games will be up and running by then. A brutally slow licensing phase would still need to happen. Nevada, which authorized online poker in the summer of 2011, still hasn’t had any of its firm launch a real-money site yet.
The games could only be intrastate at first, unless the Garden State quickly figures out the logistics on player pool-sharing arrangements with other jurisdictions. Either way, online poker games run from Atlantic City will eventually expand past state lines.

The recent revelation that the Irish High Court awarded PokerStrategy €828.6k after Pocket Kings declined to contest the suit in court is an example of closing the barn door after the horse has left the stable. At least the online poker affiliate PokerStrategy prevailed in its attempt to recover $1.2 million it claimed it was owed by Pocket Kings, the Dublin located technology subsidiary of Full Tilt Poker.
Damon Banard the lawyer for PokerStrategy was quoted by eGaming Review that while the company was “incredibly pleased” with the court’s ruling, “we are being realistic about our prospects of recovering the entire judgment debt.” Pocket Kings gave PricewaterhouseCoopers the task of dealing with its insolvency and Mr. Banard has offered to assist in the process, “as he investigates the prior dealings of the company and its directors for impropriety.”
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission which granted Full Tilt Poker the license to operate has been downgraded for its lack of due diligence after the debacle and revelation that Full Tilt had everyone’s money in the one basket. Now the United Kingdom’s Gambling Commission has reassured operators and consumers that it will make the necessary moves to ensure a similar fate is not waiting for their licensees. There are no requirements currently for UK licensees to segregate player funds from operating capital.
The U.K.’s Gambling Commission policy manager Helen O’Kane has announced a process for consultation coming soon in hopes of strengthening the guidelines for operators. O’Kane did indicate that the U.K. government had no interest in holding player deposits itself and is not willing to compel operators to undergo capital adequacy assessments to determine their risk of insolvency. The Commission wants to standardize and strengthen language regarding use of player funds in the operators’ terms and conditions. There are no sure fire ways of preventing fraud but at least the government and the gambling commissions should have some safety nets in place.

Representative Paul Harris of the state of Washington has proposed a new poker bill that has the power to decriminalize the act of playing online poker in Washington. The bill will also make the punishment for playing online poker lighter. The new bill was passed on Monday and Representative Harris hopes that the bill will soon be passed into law. As of now, online gaming is a felony in the state of Washington and has been a felony for more than six years. If Harris’ bill is passed into law, the punishment for playing online poker will be transformed into “class 3 civil infraction.” If this happens, players caught playing online poker will have to pay a maximum fine of $50 and “statutory assessments.”
Harris’ bill will apply only to players who are playing online “solely for the defendant’s own enjoyment and not as part of an enterprise that derives income from operating an Internet website that transmits or receives gambling information.”
Online gaming was outlawed by legislators in Washington back in 2006. This made playing online poker a “class C felony” with a punishment of a fine of up to $10k and a prison term of up to five years. For this reason, several US friendly poker rooms prevented Washington players from signing up for real money poker play. Lee Rousso of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) had filed a lawsuit challenging this law, in response to which the Supreme Court of Washington supported the law. According to industry analysts, the law was formed to protect Indian casinos in Washington.
Although Harris has not made any comment, his spokesperson said that he is now looking for co-sponsors for his bill and will fix a public hearing for the bill in a couple of weeks.
Online poker players in Washington are hopeful that the bill will create long-awaited changes in Washington, especially at a time when several US states are considering regulating and legalizing their online gambling industry. The events of Black Friday might have plunged the online poker community into gloom, but a DoJ re-interpretation of the Wire Act of 1961, which came a few months after Black Friday, stating that the Wire Act applies only to online sports betting and not to online poker, has acted as a silver lining to the cloud. Nevada and Delaware have already legalized online gaming and New Jersey is on the verge of doing so.

New Jersey officials stated that the lawmakers are most likely to approve an amended online gambling bill, comprising all the changes suggested by Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, when he issued a conditional veto on the bill on February 7. The amended online gambling bill is expected to be passed on February 26. Senate President Stephen Sweeney said, “Internet gaming will be a crucial boost to Atlantic City as we continue our efforts to revitalize the area. The sooner we bring Internet gaming to New Jersey, the better off Atlantic City is going to be.”
The legislative services office is now drafting a fresh bill, including the suggestions made by Governor Christie. These changes include raising the rate of taxes from 10% to 15% and limiting online gaming implementation to 10 years.
According to Sheila Oliver, speaker of the assembly, a vote will be held on February 26 shortly before the governor is expected to deliver his budget address. In a recently issued statement, she said, “We need to keep New Jersey’s gaming industry modern and competitive, and that means allowing carefully regulated Internet gaming.”
Although the senate is scheduled to meet only in March, it has decided to cast its vote on February 26 because it is in a hurry about the online gambling bill. The bill will be voted on shortly before the governor begins to give his budget speech.
Once passed in assembly, the bill will be again sent to the governor for his approval. Christie will be given a deadline of 45 days within which he has to sign the bill into law. The governor, who had vetoed a similar bill back in 2011, had issued a conditional veto this time, promising that he will approve the bill if it is changed as per his suggestions.
According to Senator Jim Whelan, the governor has suggested simple changes to strengthen the bill and raise Atlantic City gaming to the online level. He said, “Opening New Jersey gaming up to Internet wagering will provide untold benefits to the state and to the city, which has had to contend with increased out-of-state gaming competition in recent years.”
A number of industry analysts and casino operators feel that online gambling has to be legalized for the state’s gambling industry to survive. So far, only Delaware and Nevada have legalized online gambling. Meanwhile, opponents of online gambling argue that it will prevent gamblers from visiting land casinos.

Tom Dwan, who is rumored to be a frequent combatant in the high-stakes cash games in Macau, up until recently hadn’t done much on Full Tilt Poker since it returned this past fall. However, the past seven days have been huge for the New Jersey native, as he’s currently up more than $2 million on the software during the period, according to data from HighstakesDB.
Dwan has been battling with the likes of Ben Tollerene, Phil Ivey, Phil Galfond, Ben Sulsky and Hac Dang at a mixture of high-stakes games.
Dwan had been on an online downswing for quite some time prior to the recent surge. He’s up more than $3 million lifetime on the Full Tilt software, according to HighstakesDB.
The 26-year-old made a return trip to the United States last month to participate in the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. He cashed for $25,000.
While Dwan is by far the biggest winner over the past seven days, Sulsky and Ivey have each dropped seven-figure sums. Ivey had an interesting — and massive — hand at no-limit deuce-to-seven triple draw during the stretch.
Returning to the Full Tilt scene was Ilari Sahamies, perhaps known better by “Ziigmund”. Sahamies had a poor week on Full Tilt, dropping $200,000, but he won on PokerStars.

UK Beauty Charlotte Jackson Named New Sky Poker AmbassadorBritish journalist and television presenter Charlotte Jackson has just been named as the new Poker Ambassador to Sky Poker, and will soon be playing poker exclusively on skypoker-com under the screen name “CharlotteJ.” As part of her duties, the 32 year old will also be making various guest appearances on Sky Poker TV.
The multi-talented lass from Portsmouth in Hampshire has a background as a sportswomen and has been employed as a Sky Sports News presenter since August 2009. In the past, Charlotte played lacrosse and tennis for her county and must have inherited some of her mother’s sport’s genes, who played lacrosse for England. Recently, Charlotte Jackson also appeared in reality television series “Splash,” which follows celebrities learning and competing at diving in front of a panel of judges, and only missed out on a place in the semi-finals after breaking her toe.
However, Jackson’s talents extend far beyond the sports field and as well as sports writing, she has also worked as both a singer and a model. No doubt Charlotte will now combine all her talents to add a touch of glamour to skypoker-com, while her competitive streak will ensure she will be giving it her all at the virtual poker tables.
Following her announcement as the new Sky Poker Ambassador, Charlotte’s fellow Sky Poker presenter, Tony Kendall, sent a greeting to her via Twitter, saying: “A big @Sky_Poker welcome to @CharLouJackson. Let the fun begin!” to which the game lass replied: “@Tony_Kendall I’m ready! Ha.”

Top UK poker pro Chris “Moorman1” Moorman is the world’s biggest online tournament winner with a massive $8,928,132 in earnings since 2006. The Brighton pro also boasts 195 tournament victories, and now an amazing 13th career “Triple Crown,” a record which he managed to secure in the last week.
In order to win a “Triple Crown,” a player must first win a tournament on three different online sites over the period of just seven days. In addition, each tourney must have a prize pool of at least $10k and have a field of not less than 100 players.
The 27 year old British pro last achieved that feat back in 2011, but just over a month into 2013 and Chris “Moorman1″ Moorman has done it once more. Moorman’s first victory came on Saturday, 9th, when he beat a field of 117 players at the $300 Full Tilt Poker $30k Guarantee for $9,828, followed on Monday, 11th, with victory over a field of 152 players at the $100 Party Poker $15k Gtd Speed for $3,939.
At this stage, Chris Moorman provided an update on his Triple Crown quest via Twitter, where he wrote: “Two legs complete on FTP and Party, though, so got until Saturday to finish off the job, shame @PokerStars is rigged.”
Nevertheless, Moorman went on to complete his remarkable hat-trick on Tuesday, 12th, at the $109 PokerStars NL Hold’em [Turbo,2X Chance, $30K Gtd], where he beat out 394 other competitors to claim the $12,016 top prize.
Chris Moorman is now 3 Triple Crowns ahead of nearest rival Hungary’s Belabacsi, who holds the second most with 10. Trailing not far behind on 9 is Mickey “mementmori” Petersen, who also won a Triple Crown recently. As he twittered at the time:
“Small winning session, but more importantly I won a 26$ FTP turbo for my first Triple Crown in years, maybe I’ll catch @Moorman1 one day!”

Lawmakers in New Jersey are currently in the process of approving the changes Governor Chris Christie proposed to the online gaming bill. Once the changes have been made it is almost definite that Christie will sign the bill into law. The bill is sponsored by State Senator Ray Lesniak who recently said that lawmakers will be voting on changes within the next few weeks, according to some reports the vote has now been scheduled for February 26th. Once that is complete Christie will have 45 days in which to sign.
This means that it is fairly likely that New Jersey will have legal online poker by the middle of April. However, it will take a while for games to become available as the licensing process is very slow. Nevada legalised online poker back in 2011 and so far no real money sites have gone live.
At first any games offered would only be within the state, however, it will be possible for the state to find ways of sharing player pools with other jurisdictions where online gambling is allowed. Most analysts expect that it will not be long before online poker operated from Atlantic City becomes available in other states.

Leading online poker site PokerStars has made an offer to buy a physical casino in New Jersey's Atlantic City, a collision of worlds that would represent the first time an online poker company has acquired a brick-and-mortar counterpart in the US.
Boardwalk-situated The Atlantic Club has been losing money, posting a $13.6 million operating loss in the first three quarters of 2012. PokerStars' intervention looks like a lifeline for the struggling casino, which has accepted the undisclosed offering price. For the online poker company, it's a way to take advantage of a proposed state law that will likely allow casinos to add online gambling operations within the year. The move would also signify PokerStars' first step back onto US soil after the Justice Department shut down the three major poker sites in April 2011. That's making local regulators nervous — PokerStars still needs to get a license from the Division of Gaming Enforcement and the Casino Control Commission, the two agencies that regulate Atlantic City’s $3 billion gambling industry.
Industry analysts told the Press of Atlantic City that PokerStars could face an uphill battle as regulators look at the company's previous clash with US authorities. PokerStars was one of the three poker sites that was raided on what poker players refer to as "Black Friday" almost two years ago, settling with the Justice Department for $731 million. PokerStars' parent company, the Rational Group, also bought out its former competitor Full Tilt when the latter was revealed to be short on funds to pay players The settlement cleared the way for PokerStars to re-enter the US market once online gambling is legalized. But with the purchase of a casino, PokerStars will operate physical poker tables in addition to blackjack, slots, and other games, in addition to a hotel and a fitness club. If PokerStars is allowed to buy the casino, the company will likely introduce online gambling as soon as it's legalized.
New Jersey regulators will want to tread lightly to ensure that granting PokerStars a license to operate in the state won't somehow violate the settlement or run afoul of federal law, which is still murky on the question of online gambling.
The Rational Group has now filed for an "interim casino authorization," the first step in taking over The Atlantic Club while regulators begin their due diligence. The Division of Gaming Enforcement has up to 90 days to recommend approval or denial. The Casino Control Commission then has 30 days to vote on the license.

Day 4 of the 2013 PokerStars.fr European Poker Tour Main Event came to a close on Thursday. Cyril Andre led the way with just 23 remaining.
Many of poker's best online players never get a chance to shine in the spotlight. We're here to change that. In the latest edition of Online Chat, Alex "Assassinato" Fitzgerald discusses Black Friday, living abroad, and more.
We're still waiting on the launch of Ivey Poker, but the online poker site keeps making noise. On Wednesday, Ivey Poker announced that it has acquired Leggo Poker.
Gov. Christie Backs Online Gambling in New Jersey
It wasn't the result the online poker industry was hoping for on Thursday. But New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's decision regarding Internet gambling was still deemed a victory.
Christie waited until the final moments of his 45-day window to conditionally veto an online gambling bill that would allow real-money online poker to be played inside state lines. Although the veto denies the state the ability to move forward with online gambling plans, Christie says he fully supports online gambling in the state. First, though, he needs to see some changes to the measure before he can sign off on it.
Among Christie's recommendations include a tax increase from 10 to 15 percent, with part of the additional proceeds going to compulsive gambling programs, and a time limit of 10 years for the authorization of Internet gaming unless re-established by law.
“With these goals in mind, I have concluded that now is the time for our State to move forward, again leading the way for the nation, by becoming one of the first states to permit Internet gaming,” Christie said in the statement.
