International Game Technology - said Thursday that it has named Philip Satre to serve as its chairman, effective Dec. 1. The gambling-equipment maker said that Satre will replace T.J. Matthews, who will step down as chairman but remain on the board. Satre has served on IGT's board since January 2009 and also serves as chairman of Nevada Energy Inc.

Like France, in several other countries people are using illegal gambling sites. So in order to regulate the industry and the money involved, governments must set certain standards to legalize it so as it would not affect existing players interests and also help government in revenue generation.

I'm not holding much hope that governments around the world can use common sense. I wish they would simply allow it and tax the profits of the corporations (and perhaps the winnings of the good and/or lucky players). But that would make too much sense. Better for government to feed schlock programs to the masses to get reelected. 😔

♠ The “November Nine”, the final table in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker, has been set. Darvin Moon, a logger from rural Maryland, has an enormous lead and holds approximately thirty percent of the chips in play. Phil Ivey, who has already won two bracelets this year, is in seventh position. Other notable players at the final table include Jeff Shulman and British pro James Akenhead.

Shulman has made WSOP news both on and off the felt. He has claimed that he will “throw [the bracelet] in the garbage” if he wins the Main Event. He objects to the way the WSOP handles its media rights and corporate interests.

♠ Tom “durrrr” Dwan’s milliondollar challenge matches against Patrik Antonius have slowed recently; Dwan still has a $725,000 lead after forty percent of the 50,000 hands. It has been announced, however, that a live version of the challenge will take place in London in November, when the WSOP Europe begins. Dwan will play against four opponents, and each match will have a $500,000 buy-in and $500/$1000 blinds. No match will end until one player is broke or 500 hands have been played.

♠ The World Poker Tour, which has recently moved to Fox Sports Net, has been sold. Gamynia Limited has purchased almost all of the WPT’s assets for $9.075 million. Reports have linked Gamynia to Titan Poker and the rest of the iPoker network.

♠ A dealer at the Bellagio was recently fired for stealing $1000 chips from games in Bobby’s Room. Barry Greenstein has said that management told him that the dealer had a holdout device in his shirtsleeve. The dealer has been fired and will be prosecuted.

THE MONEY

This month Full Tilt Poker’s nosebleed action took place almost entirely at Pot Limit Omaha tables: all ten players on the leader board made their money there. Leading all winners was Richard Ashby, a Full Tilt pro from London who made the final table of the most recent Aussie Millions. Following him are big names including Cole South, Phil Ivey, Brian Townsend, and Rafi “howisitfeellike” Amit. Notably absent from the list are Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius, whose million-dollar challenge saw no significant action in July.

Dwan, in fact, lost over $1,250,000, and David Benyamine lost $840,000.

Other big losers of the month included “KObyTAPOUT”, whom rumors have connected to Finnish player Jani Vilmunen.

Came to the site and looks as though I didn't make my quota for qualifying in freeroll info. Too bad cuz I really like playing for this forum and have a hard time finding something to write about to make a posting. Perhaps if we had a "daily greeting" or something, that would help.
