Online poker and casino software firm Playtech Ltd - posted a 54 percent rise in 2008 pretax profit, helped by significant growth across all divisions, and said it was highly confident of its prospects for 2009 and beyond.

Figures released by the Conservative Party in Britain yesterday have shown that a quarter of a million more people used the internet for online gambling than in 2007. They say the Labour Parties relaxed laws are the cause.
Poker has seen the biggest increase in players recently and the number is set to rise – especially after rags to riches stories in the press such as 21 year old Andrew Feldman who was able to quit his paper round after winning £4million in 3 years.

The European Commission said on Thursday it had ended a legal case against Austria over gambling at casinos. The case concerned possible discrimination relating to legal protection provided to casino players in Austria.
The European Commission decided to close the infringement case...... after reform of the Austrian law on gaming which extended protection for players to all citizens of the EU.

Hi ixers,
Looking forward to reading some great thread and putting in my 2 cents. I've been playing poker for years but online for only for a couple years now. I been in Chicago for 7 years now and if was't for the awesome summers here I would have to move somewhere else. See you at the tables.

New member here. But im not new to the game. My name is Sam and i play 1/2 no limit hold em + a little omaha (hi and hi/lo). Im from NYC and love it here. I play live poker in AC at the world famous Taj Mahal. Huge fan of these poker forums i think its great for the game. 😁
