In the semifinals, 16-year-old American Grant will meet experienced 30-year-old German Friedsam. The American was the 2nd junior rocket, and already won a couple of titles in adult competitions, one of which was in Italy at the end of November, where she defeated strong opponents from Ghana. This is her second tournament this year. Last week, she lost to future star T. Valentova from the Czech Republic, who went on to win the entire tournament.
German Friedsam is more experienced, although she is now ranked lower after an unsuccessful last season, but she started this one well, winning the Luxembourg tournament and now having won 8 consecutive matches. I choose Grant from Peru because she is a very talented player who will surely be among the top 100 in the WTA soon, and Friedsam will have a hard time against her. It's not for nothing that yesterday, Grant defeated the first seed Gao (WTA-140) with a score of 6-2, 6-2. Friedsam had a 3-set battle yesterday and this will be her 9th match in 11 days, making it physically challenging to keep up with Grant's energetic game. I choose Grant from Peru.
