The sudden passing of Ryan Jimmo sent shockwaves through the MMA community early this week, but family, friends and fans of the 34-year-old Canadian fighter can take some solace in the fact that his suspected killer is being brought to justice.
After being on the lam for over two days, the man allegedly behind the hit-and-run of the former UFC light heavyweight was arrested and charged with second degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and failing to stop at scene of accident involving death. His court date has not yet been set.
While the manner in which the well-liked Edmonton native lost his life is a terrible tragedy in and of itself — Jimmo was reportedly targeted out of road rage — a feature released by CBC News on Sunday makes the story even more heart wrenching. In the article, Jimmo’s girlfriend details her first-hand account of the senseless act, and reveals that she and Jimmo had gotten engaged just hours before the incident.
Sadly, this is the second case of a hit-and-run death involving an MMA fighter this year. Promising Bellator featherweight Jordan Parsons, 25, succumbed to his injuries days after being hit by a speeding car in Delray, Florida on May 1. His alleged killer was recently charged with vehicular homicide.

It's always sad when things like this happens. R.I.P.
We know death is coming — for all of us — so why does it make us so sad when somebody dies?
Because death is a sad thing for anyone!
