CSKA Moscow - Rubin Kazan

Rubin Kazan showed that they were capable of competing with the best last season however that was largely down to their brilliant home form. Away from home they still struggled and that is shown when looking at their results. This has carried on to their pre season matches which although you can't look too much into it still shows that they are struggling away and with no away in in their last 10 attempts something is wrong there. CSKA are known as one of the big guns in Russia and although Zenit have taken the spotlight they are still up there. At home I can't see them not winning this opening fixture less that 2 goals.

I am going to back both of these teams to score here in this match. Both have not made any considerable signings and have almost the same squad as the last year. In the last 7 meetings, they have had both teams to score in every match and i think this one can and again as russian leagues have always been kind to us in this respect. The last 7 meetings have included 2-2 score line thrice, 2-1 score line thrice and a 1-1 score line once, i think we can back this bet here with some confidence in these stats and it should come out with a profit.

Leonid Slutsky will certainly not change much of his team's complicated trip to Metallurg Stadion on Friday. The 44-year old Russian manager will surely keep with his usual 4-2-3-1, with Bibras Natkho and Pontus Wernbloom dictating the game’s pace.
The absence of new signings this summer does not necessarily mean that CSKA are weaker than they were last season. They have a hugely experienced team and that might prove to be decisive this term.
