If we're talking texas hold'em, although you make a 5 card hand, you have 7 cards available to you. So what's the odds of making it using 7 cards?

Using both hole cards: 1:64,973
Using at least one hole card: 1:32,486
Using 0-2 hole cards: 1:30,939
The real number of hands you would have to play however is much higher than e.g. 64,973, as this assumes that you would play ANY two suited cards of 10+ EVERY time - which is very unlikely.
Also many hands that are folded early don't count towards this number. These odds assume that every game plays to the river (or at least until the possibility of a royal flush is mathematically eliminated) - which is even more unlikely!

Nice statistics. I have been playing for 2 years now. I haven't seen a royal flush yet.
I had my first early September after 2 years of playing and it was paid off, too. π
