Lost the hand history, this just happened though so it's accurate.
.10/.25 NL on Pokerstars. Guy opens from EP, I'm in the SB with JJ. I'm probably 50/50 between raising and calling here. This time I decided to raise so I bump it to 3.50. He calls, there's about $6 in the pot for a 9-2-7 flop with 2 spades. I bet $4, he calls. Turn is a blank 3. I bet $9 into the ~$14 pot. He just calls again. Thinking about it now I guess I kinda decided to commit myself by betting that turn b/c now I have just $13 left and there's like $40 in the pot. The river brings the 10 of spades. I think it would be pretty retarded to check-fold at this point so I just shove. He calls and takes it with QQ.
I think I went wrong on the turn and should probably give up right there instead of firing again. I showed strength twice and got called each time. What do you guys think?:what:
I hate a pair like JJ or AA preflop under the gun! Its hard to play!
other side of the coin - your were fairly pot commited and he coulda had A with a crap kicker
another side note...how was he playing throught the game - did you have any read on him at all?
unlucky for you!
live and learn - im sure we've all done the same plenty of times!
I suggest his flat calling your two raises was just trapping you, he was probably also scared of KK/AA (so didn't raise) but as you already said yourself you should have been a bit concerned by his behaviour through all stages of betting.

It often happens to me with KK losing againt AA.
Or even with AA losing againt KK finding a trip on the board :helpme
When you're so much pot commited like you were, it's really hard to let the hand go, but you must let it go if you think you're beaten...
Maybe I would have raised more than your standard continuation bets, on flop or turn, in order to see the reaction on my opponent.
With standard CB, it's hard to determine what could be your opponent hand.
I hope you'll get more luck soon 😁
