One hell of a game😡
With the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) coming to end, most online poker players would normally be looking forward to the next Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) to find that next poker tournament series excitement. But with Full Tilt gone, there is a gaping hole in the online tournament series landscape after the WCOOP. Enter PartyPoker. The world’s second largest online poker room (or third, depending on the day) has announced its very own online poker tournament series, Pokerfest, scheduled to begin in the last week of October.
Pokerfest will run October 23rd through November 6th and feature 47 events with $3 million in guaranteed prize money. On most days, three events will be run, each geared towards players at different stakes levels. One tournament’s buy-in will be just a few Party Points, one will have a buy-in of $6 to $33, and the highest stakes event will cost $55 to $1,060, though most in the latter category will fall in the lower end of the spectrum. Some of the highlighted tournaments include:
• Event 1 – $215 No-Limit Hold’em, $300,000 guaranteed
• Event 23 – $215 No-Limit Hold’em, $350,000 guaranteed
• Event 46 – $33 No-Limit Hold’em, $50,000 guaranteed
• Event 47 – $640 No-Limit Hold’em Championship Event, $1 million guaranteed
Qualifiers will be available for each event with a $55 buy-in or higher. As is the usual for PartyPoker, qualifiers will start very low, for as little a one dollar, and will have a ladder-type structure as players work their way up to win a seat in a Pokerfest event. Those who win seats can enter any event with the corresponding buy-in.
There will be three Pokerfest leaderboards, one each for events with points buy-ins, low buy-ins, and high buy-ins. Players will earn points based on tournament finish and the amount of the buy-in. The total prize pool for the points buy-in leaderboard will be $5,000 with a $500 first prize, for the low buy-in leaderboard there will be a $30,000 prize pool and $2,500 first prize, and for the high buy-in leaderboard there will be a $65,000 prize pool and $5,000 first prize.
Pokerfest will also feature Side Events so that players can win extra cash:
$35,000 Pokerfest Jackpots – The first person to win three Pokerfest events will win $20,000, the first person to reach the final table in 10 events will get $10,000, and the first person to cash ten times will win $5,000.
Daily Dollar Side Events – Starting October 23rd, PartyPoker will hold two daily $1 buy-in tournaments, but each tournament will have a special twist that can only be found in the tournament lobby.
Prize Draw – Every player will win a raffle entry for each event in which they play. The first 500 names drawn will win prizes such as iPads, chip sets, and other merchandise.
The complete schedule for Pokerfest 2011 is at Party Poker.
Cobar Bowling and Golf Club’s poker Christmas party is scheduled for Saturday with the free game starting at 4.30pm and the cash game at 7.30pm. At Party Poker
There will be unlimited rebuys in the first hour and cost $22 per entry with a $4000 starting stack plus $22 top-up at the break.
The tournament will pay for the top 8 and the turbo table for wild card to final table. First prize will be $1000 and a 20 minute blinds rolled back two levels at final table.
Les Arnold won the Thursday free game from 16 contestants with Shane placing second and Graeme Fridd third.
Twenty-three players were attracted to the cash game with Tony Place taking out first place, Lionel Dell second and Mark Sullivan third.
Greg Clark won the Sunday tournament from Michael Harvey and Simon Dickson while John Harvey won the cash game with Michael Harvey again in second spot and Les Arnold finishing third.
Royal Flush Jackpot now stands at $822 (free game) and $2314 (cash game). Come down on Saturday for a great Christmas party with friends.

Card Rush cards reveal prizes such as Party Points, real money, entries to freerolls, and Card Rush Race Points. Holders of Card Rush cards can win 10, 20, 50, 100, 150, 250, 750, 5,000, or 25,000 Party Points or $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, $50, $250, or $5,000 real money or entries to freerolls with prize pools worth $2000, $3000, $5000, $7,500, $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000 or 1, 3, 5, 10, or 20 Card Rush Race Points.
Players gain a position on the Card Rush Leader Board based on the number of Card Rush Race Points they have won, and based on their leader board position, they will be given more cash prizes. The top player on the leader board will receive a grand prize of $9000. The top ten players will win thousands of dollars, while players on positions 151 – 200 will receive $100. Besides, each twentieth position between 220 and 2000 is called a hot spot, and each player occupying a hot spot will receive a bonus of $50.
There is a possibility of the same player winning several seats to the same freeroll, in which case, Party Poker has no substitute prize to offer. Although Party Poker says that the Card Rush promotion will run throughout February, chances of it ending earlier are high because Party Poker has only 1.8 million Card Rush cards to give away.
Winning the first Card Rush card is easier because Party Poker is giving players their first Card Rush card after they collect only 5 Party Points.
The online poker rooms that actually benefited by the federal crackdown on the above-mentioned online poker rooms were Ladbrokes and William Hill, among others, particularly because they do not accept US players. A number of UK players who had accounts at the above-mentioned sites migrated to Ladbrokes and William Hill, increasing their player traffic.
According to the latest news, Groupe Bernard Tapie (GBT), the French investment company, will purchase Full Tilt Poker assets for $80 million from the US Department of Justice (DoJ). If the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) issues a gaming license to the new brand, Full Tilt Poker will become functional on March 1, 2012.
Meanwhile, Party Poker is hosting innumerable qualifier satellites, most of them freerolls, to the World Poker Tour (WPT). Every month, Party Poker offers more than $100,000 as freeroll prizes alone, which makes Party Poker a great online poker room for beginners. Besides, Party Poker also offers a bonus of $500 to new players.
PokerStars, which has recently modified its VIP Club, is now a paradise of lucrative offers. The online poker room rewards players with Frequent Player Points (FPP) whenever they play cash poker games or poker tournaments. Players who collect 900 FPPs stand the chance of winning a T-shirt, and players who can play as many as five tables at a time will win generous bonuses.
Players also stand the chance of grabbing some great prizes at Rake the Rake, one of the largest rakeback sites in the world. Players who sign up at PokerStars and Party Poker through Rake the Rake can grab attractive rakebacks along with entries to special tournaments and rake races.
According to iGamingFrance, the amount owed by these players, $16.5 million, is an extra expense GBT may not be willing to take on, though several of the players who have not been identified have signed contracts to repay their debt.
iGamingFrance translated Tapie’s comments from French to English. Here is what he had to say:
"As written . . . the argument of the players who say ‘we will refund if the money goes to the players’ is misleading, since they know very well that the players will be refunded only if GBT goes all the way with the takeover, and for that to happen it is necessary that the bulk of money owed by the pros returns to Full Tilt.
"Otherwise GBT will have to make up the shortfall, generating an additional cost to the overall operation that GBT is not willing to take on, especially as the financial position of Full Tilt, as it appears following the audit, is actually worse than expected.
"Therefore the claim that this may block the deal unfortunately is true.
"But GBT will not stop there.
"We will study closely the exact account histories of the 19 pro players who have never repaid their debts owed to the other Full Tilt players, which amount to US$16.5m exactly.
"The poker community, and particularly that made up of former Full Tilt players waiting to recover their funds, deserves to know the reality of the behavior of some major poker figures who say they are sorry for the situation of Full Tilt players and want to do everything they can to help them get their funds back, blaming the old management, but also refrain from saying how much they have borrowed from Full Tilt, and lost, playing on the site.
"However these losses represent some of the funds owed to the players who are waiting to be reimbursed.
"When you are a poker player, a great player at that, recognized and admired, the basic rule, it seems to me, is to honor your gambling debts.
"Fortunately, among the 19 players we have attempted to contact, some have immediately called back and worked with us on a repayment plan to clear their debts, and we are already finalizing contracts to that effect.
"We now hope that those who have not contacted us will do so quickly, to find the same type of solutions, so that the situation does not remain as it is.”
Circus Groupe and PokerStars joined forces in October 2010 to offer their services to players in a test phase under the regulation of the Belgian Gaming Commission. The partnership allowed for residents of Belgium to play online at PokerStars and qualify for live events like the European Poker Tour.
Now with a full license, PokerStars.be will be permitted to offer online gaming services while the Belgian Gaming Commission actively works to weed out unlicensed operators accessing Belgian players.
"This is an important step forward for the regulation of online gambling," said Etienne Marique, chairman of the Belgian Gaming Commission. "Not only is the legal framework offering the possibility for operators to offer their online games of chance, but from an economical point of view gambling operators are given opportunities in Belgium. And all this in an environment that protects players more than illegal websites do — for example, excluded players cannot play at licensed websites and an average hourly loss is applicable to each player.”
This is the latest in a string of full operational licenses PokerStars has received in jurisdictions across Europe. PokerStars.it was the first to launch in June 2008, giving players in Italy the chance to participate in games of online poker in compliance with Italian laws. PokerStars.fr, PokerStars.ee and PokerStars.dk now offer the same privileges to players within their own borders.
“PokerStars is proud to be among the first fully licensed operators in Belgium,” said Guy Templer, PokerStars’ head of business development. “We are delighted to be able to offer a locally licensed product to Belgian players through our partnership with Circus Groupe. This furthers our goal to obtain licenses in all newly regulated markets and we look forward to working with the Circus Groupe and Gaming Board.”
The Sunday Million, World Championship of Online Poker, and the Spring Championship of Online Poker are part of the list of international tournaments that PokerStars.be players will be able to participate in.
According to a post by Eric Hollreiser, Head of Corporate Communications for PokerStars, the online poker site now has a Malta Remote Gaming License and will launch PokerStars.eu to handle players across several European markets. More from Hollreisder:
You’ll be hearing more about our plans for Pokerstars.eu in the coming days, but its origins lie in our dedication to serving players’ needs. We expect our Malta license will immediately benefit players who have told us they want to share in the benefits – such as clarity around taxation – that some jurisdictions offer to sites with a license from European Union nations.
Currently, Italy and France operate in segregated markets, and it does not appear that PokerStars.it and PokerStars.fr would be included under the PokerStars.eu umbrella right now.
Hollreiser goes on to say that PokerStars believes it is licensed to operate in more markets than any other online poker site, and that it is committed to supporting regulatory efforts around the world.
You can read the whole blog post here.
We will have more on what the launch of PokerStars.eu means for European players as more information becomes available.
It not looks so good for them.
Its so sad for them.....
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), former licenser of Full Tilt Poker, released a statement to former Full Tilt Poker players that they no longer provide a license for Full Tilt and furthermore has no authority to arbitrate or intermediate regarding Full Tilt players and issues they have with the online poker site. The statement also confirmed that all complaints will continued to be forwarded to the police and advises any players who are still owed money to also contact the police.
If they so believe that they have been the victim of a crime, the AGCC has advised these players to contact law enforcement officials to take further action.
While the statement from the AGCC did not mention anything regarding the buyout of Full Tilt Poker by French investment group Groupe Bernard Tapie, it is still believed that GBT will acquire the online poker brand and assets from the US Department of Justice in exchange for one $80 million payment. Upon transfer, the US DOJ will drop all charges and civil complaints against the Full Tilt name. It is still unknown whether or not players will ever be reimbursed for their confiscated accounts, though many are still hopeful that once the takeover is finalized, the new owners will make their best effort to pay back some or all that is owed to the disgruntled US players.
Thanks Manne for the daily updation for us members.......
Last week, Behnam Dayanim, lawyer for Groupe Bernard Tapie, revealed that a number of poker professionals associated with Full Tilt Poker had outstanding debts that threatened GBT’s acquisition of the online poker site. Now, iGamingFrance is reporting that Laurent Tapie, the man behind the acquisition, has confirmed the allegations.
According to iGamingFrance, the amount owed by these players, $16.5 million, is an extra expense GBT may not be willing to take on, though several of the players who have not been identified have signed contracts to repay their debt.

A variety of phones are supported in the U.K. mobile release from PokerStars, including iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches, and any device with an Android platform. Players from across the United Kingdom, sans Northern Ireland, will have access to the release and be able to play real money games from the comfort of their cell phones. PokerStars has a partial list of supported phones at PokerStarsMobile.com.
Jeffrey Haas, PokerStars’ Director of New Platforms, commented in a press release, “PokerStars Mobile is more than just the migration of the existing PokerStars game product to the mobile platform. It’s an intentional product designed specifically for the form factors of mobile and tablet devices, and the different ways people play games on them. This is the best authentic poker experience available for mobile devices today.”
Last year, PokerStars rolled out mobile gaming to Italy, which went over quite well and continued to assert PokerStars’ status as the big dog of the online poker world. Now, it enters a U.K. market that features burgeoning smartphone growth. Plus, it’s one of the most popular nations for poker in general, adding even more fuel to the PokerStars fire.
The same PokerStars press release outlined, “43% of U.K. mobile users now have smartphones… Today, there are 25,338,700 smartphone connections and 780,000 tablet PC connections in the U.K., and as the market segment grows (expected to surpass 50% this year), so does the demand for great games that are optimized for these increasingly sophisticated devices.”
Ten percent of Italian PokerStars players use the room’s mobile client to connect. When players sign on via a mobile phone, they’ll be treated to Hold’em and Omaha games, real money and play money tables, the familiar “Play Now” button to get them seated faster, multi-tabling, and the ability to search for others. Plus, mobile players will be connected to the greater PokerStars player pool, so there will almost always be a game to suit your fancy. Note that the PokerStars Mobile client does not have a cashier. Instead, you’ll need to use your computer in order to perform any monetary transactions. Also, PokerStars Home Games are not available on your smartphone. On the iPhone and iPod Touch, you can open up to four tables at a time. On the iPad, you can open up to five tables at a time. On any Android device, you can play on up to four real money and three play money tables. That should be more than enough action for you to handle while you’re on the go.
You’ll definitely want to watch your data usage while on PokerStars Mobile. Text found on PokerStars’ website cautions, “If you play one table for an hour, you will likely use a bit less than 1 MB download and 500 KB upload.” However, despite the data volume, you’ll have the convenience of being able to play in a car, at a park, or on a train. You can also enable your phone’s wireless internet and play that way.
On the popular poker forum PocketFives, posters weighed in on the PokerStars Mobile experience. One U.K. player shared, “Pretty awesome first impression. Can play anything you would on the normal site and can multi-table pretty easily. Just going to have to get a battery extension. At the moment, I will run out of juice after at most an hour playing.”
Another PocketFives poster lauded the PokerStars Mobile client as a backup in case of internet outages or other unforeseen circumstances: “My home WiFi went down for like two minutes last night, but within 30 seconds, I was on my phone and didn’t miss a hand.”

Zoom Poker, a fast-paced online poker game that is much like Rush Poker at the now closed Full Tilt Poker, can be accessed through the TestPokerStars website. You can find instructions for accessing the client here. In order to play on the test client, you need to already have a regular PokerStars account. If you don’t have an account already, you can sign up here.
Right now, Zoom Poker is only available for play money play.
In Zoom Poker, players join a large “cloud” of players, and are seated at a table. Players can choose to play the hand, or instantly fold out of turn and be moved to a new table consisting of other players from the cloud. Zoom Poker allows players to see many more hands than they can at regular ring games, on average 200 hands an hour or more. You can have up to four “entries” in the player cloud for a game.
Currently on the test site, only 6-max no-limit hold’em is available, but the lobby also includes slots limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, pot-limit Omaha hi-lo, and other games.
On top of the different tournament styles, you’ll find that there are also quite a few different games including Pot Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, and even a Player’s Choice tournament as well. While all of these tournaments will be interesting, there are also some great guarantees attached with the tournaments which make the different styles even more intriguing for the players as well.
From March 4th to March 25th, there will be three tournaments running each day at a minimum with different buy-ins, and all different styles of play and guarantees for the events as well. Carbon Poker really went all out with this tournament series, and the excitement behind it is building every day, as it features more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money spread throughout all of the events.
One thing that Carbon Poker has always been excellent at is offering different tournament guarantees for all different buy-in levels, and the Poker Maximus is no different. Whether you like to grind out the small stakes poker tournaments between $1 and $15, or you like to play the high stakes events that are over $100, there is something for everyone. And of course, don’t forget everyone in between those two totals up there, as there are buy-ins that range between $1 and $530 with money put into the prize pool no matter what!
While it is important to know that Carbon Poker is hosting the Poker Maximus, don’t forget that if you are a NEW player looking to sign up at the site, they not only accept United States players, but they also give some great sign-up bonuses as well. There’s no better time to take some free money then before loading up for one of the biggest and best poker tournament series’ in the game.

PokerStars revealed details of the series that extends the world’s favourite poker room’s online festival offerings that already includes the most prestigious and richest online series, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), as well as the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) and Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP).
Probably the most affordable online poker series out there, the micro stakes events allows players – no matter how wealthy or experienced – the opportunity to win massive prizes for what really is not a large outlay.
Dutch Pro Ready for “Awesome” Series
Certainly, Lex Veldhuis can’t wait to get going when the “awesome” series kicks off on Thursday, March 15, for 11 days of poker over 100 events that offer at least $5 million in guarantees.
While the series might be aimed at micro stakes and recreational players, competitors can expect to see the likes of Dutch star Veldhuis – who has 12 World Series of Poker (WSOP) cashes to his name – lining up to take part with such enormous prize pools assured.
Don’t forget that over 49 million players have registered with PokerStars since its launch back in December of 2001 to become the world’s biggest poker room, so it’s almost certain that fields at the MicroMillions will be huge – meaning gigantic payouts.
Veldhuis Reckons MicroMillions is “One of the Best”
The 28-year-old from Rotterdam reckons the MicroMillions series “is one of the best” events he has taken part in as – “back when I played penny and micro-stakes games” – he found himself “mesmerised by the big tournament series and always hoped to be able to play one day”.
Of course, Veldhuis has moved on from those days after French star and friend Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier deposited the Dutch star’s first $10 at PokerStars back in 2005.
However, he is still attracted to the MicroMillions series – and no wonder as buy-ins start at just 11¢, while there are also daily $1 tournaments offering as much as $100,000 guaranteed prize pools.
There are also dozens of $2, $3, $4, $5, $8 and $10 events, while the $22 buy-in main event on March 25 guarantees players will share at least $1 million from the prize pool.
Small Buy-Ins Allow All Level of Player to Enter
Veldhuis – whose biggest live tournament cash came in May of 2009 when he picked up $277,939 for finishing seventh at event #2, a $40,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em 40th Anniversary tournament, of the WSOP in Las Vegas – could not contain his enthusiasm for the MicroMillions as he believes the event “offers players from those stakes the chance to be part of a great tournament series”.
Additionally, the pro – who is known online as ‘RaSZi’ – reckons “it’s a very logical step (for the poker room) with all the different online tournament festivals that PokerStars offers”.
The MicroMillions events will run almost all day every day, ensuring that players from right across the globe have the opportunity to take part in the hope of turning a couple of bucks into many thousands of dollars.
The events begin at 01:30, 04:00, 06:00, 08:30, 10:00, 12:00, 13:30, 15:30, 17:00 and 21:00 (all times Eastern Time Zone), while a full schedule of tournaments, as well as online satellites, can be located at the PokerStars website.
Micro-Stakes Series Offers Numerous Poker Variants
The poker games available throughout the series pay particular attention to the world’s favourite variant, No-Limit Hold’em, although players will also have the choice of playing Pot-Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Stud, Draw and Eight-Game mix.
Fans of the many formats will also be catered for, with Turbo, Rebuy, Shootout, Knockout, Big Ante and Six-Max available.
With over 75 billion hands already played across more than 500 million tournaments at PokerStars – as the poker room offers more daily events than any other website – players can expect to enjoy some thrilling action throughout the 11-day festival of poker.
If you haven’t already discovered the joys of playing at PokerStars and fancy a crack at the top prizes on offer at the MicroMillions, then get on over there now and take advantage of the 100% first-deposit bonus of up to $600 – or £400. Click here to visit PokerStars.
That’s an incredible number considering PokerStars – the world’s leading online poker room – only announced the introduction of this new series last week, although it is really no shock as the tournaments on offer guarantee massive payouts from minimal buy-ins.
So, with a guaranteed prize pool of $25,000, no one should be surprised that event #1, which kicks off at 12:00 ET (Eastern Time Zone) next Thursday, has seen thousands of players register for the 11¢+Rebuy No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max Rebuy Madness tournament.
With organisers expecting the flood of entrants to continue up to the event’s start, they have decided to increase the player limit to 100,000 for the opening tournament of the PokerStars MicroMillions, as well as courting controversy by changing its format to a turbo competition with starting stacks of just 50 chips!
100 Events Over 11 Days at PokerStars
If this is a sign of things to come, expect many more of the 100 MicroMillions events on the 11-day schedule to see increased maximum fields – and we at Poker News Report wouldn’t be shocked to see several other tournaments become turbo events, as well.
A PokerStars spokesman backed the decision to change the opening event into a turbo tournament, saying that the poker room recognises that few players would want the low-stakes opener to drag into a second day’s play as the largest ever internet poker series begins in earnest.
The spokesman said: “MicroMillions is a tournament series that’s ideal for every type of player, no matter how small your bankroll may be.
“We changed the format to make it a turbo because, otherwise, the tournament would go on for more than a day, and nobody really wants that.”
Seven Tournaments on Series’ Opening Day
Day 1 of the series also features six other events – and they are a $1+Rebuy No-Limit Hold’em (3x-Turbo) at 13:00 ET that guarantees $75,000, a $5.50 No-Limit Hold’em at 14:00 that also offers no less than $75,000 in prizes, a $3.30+Rebuy Pot-Limit Omaha Six-Max that guarantees $25,000 at 15:00, a $10.50 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo SuperKnockout at 16:00, a $4.40 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo at 18:00 – with both offering at least $20,000 in prizes – and a $2.20 No-Limit Hold’em at 21:00 that possesses a $10,000 prize pool.
However, the biggest attraction will most likely be the final day’s $22 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em main event on Sunday, March 25, that will offer a $1 million guaranteed prize pool – of which $150,000 will go to the winner.

Before the world knew the true name behind the mysterious “Isildur1,” his unknown identity caused quite the buzz back in 2009 and 2010 until he revealed his true self just before the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and took sponsorship by PokerStars. In his short career, he’s participated in some of the biggest pots in online poker history, including the biggest pot ever against Patrik Antonius—a single pot worth $1,356,947.
His live tournament earnings are just as impressive. He has cashed three times including finishing 16th in the 2010 WSOPE for which he took home £33,582 ($51,806), and two cashes this year, a first place finish at the $100K Super High Roller Event, a $1.25+ million win, and a second place finish at the €5K Heads-Up EPT Deauville when he won €13,400 ($17,623).
