According to conventional wisdom, an Obama Presidency would likely legalize, regulate, and tax the online gambling industry. Obama has the highest 'liberal' rating in the US Senate, and he has consistently voted in favor of increasing government regulation in a variety of industries. He has no statements on record against online gaming.

In case you have not noticed, regardless of who occupies the office of the Presidency, or whom we elect to congress, they all, with very few notable exceptions, keep moving our country away from what the Founders intended, and toward more massive government that sticks its intrusive, controlling little fingers into all aspects of our lives. This has been going on since the Civil War when the Constitution was abandoned, and a more "pure" democracy replaced the Constitutional Republic.
The two idiot Senators who drafted that sneaked-in piece of legislative drek, piggy-backed onto the Port Authority Bill, likely thought they were helping save us from ourselves. Ah, Senator Frist. Two sons arrested for drunk driving, on two separate occasions, and he owns stock in an HMO that routinely performs abortions. I wonder what we do not know about. He is my personal pick for the leader of the Moral Majority.
However, the rest of our elected self-interested, who voted it in and then chose not to vote it out, have always had regulation and taxation as the basis for their support. First they threaten to take away our game and slap our wrists, then they grudgingly relent to our demands and establish regulation, taxation and ever-growing governmental oversight.
For our own good. We are fools.
I do not believe that having a liberal over a conservative in the White House is going to change the course of regulating online gaming in America.
