Will Larry King Be The Next Jerry Seinfeld?

After a long career of discussing current events and so many other serious topics on Larry King Live, Larry King is deciding to switch things up a bit and give stand-up comedy a try. At 77-years-old, he believes he’s found his calling and will be going on a comedy tour or at least it's in the plans.

According to the Huffington Post, King gave an interview with New York Magazine where he opened up about his new career as a comedian. “I’m funny. I’m going to do stand-up. That’s what I love.”

He may be trying to lighten things up after finding out that the CNN was only willing to extend his contract for one more year and were then bringing in a new face or a fresher face which turned out to be Piers Morgan. He will still be brought in as a guest host from time to time but his final day on the show will be on December 16th.

King had been the host of Larry King Live for 25 years before stepping down and at the age of 77 shouldn't the guy be enjoying his retirement by now? Yes, he should or at least be fulfilling his dream of becoming a stand-up comic.

Geriatric comedy could work. Go for it Larry, you’ve led a colorful life and after 7 marriages we’re sure you have plenty of material lined up.

While I would likely not find Larry King funny, I would not be his target audience. I would think he would have material that would be well suited to the boomer generation (and older). If he could nail a good delivery a bet he could be successful.

Always have a dream to follow. Good luck out there man!
