State of Utah Supporting Internet Gambling

The state of Utah is considering joining forces with Representative Barney Frank to regulate the Internet gambling industry.

The main problem for Utah in supporting the legislation is they do not want other forms of gambling in the state. Indian tribes could be allowed to open casinos if any form of gambling becomes legal in Utah. On Sunday lawyers from the gaming industry met with Shurtleff in Washington to see if there was ways that Utah could support Frank's Bill without jeopardizing their stance on land based casino in the state.

The next round of battling in Congress may have a bigger effect on the economy than any of the stimulus battles that have taken place. Millions of people in the US are gambling online and lawmakers are recognizing that regulation is needed for the online gambling industry.

The state of Illinois may become the next state to follow Utah's lead and endorse legalized Internet gambling. In the state of Illinois, lawmakers are considering changing their existing laws to allow online gambling.
