Lee DeWyze is American Idol Winner

In a star-studded "American Idol" Season 9 finale that included Bret Michaels, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, Joe Cocker, Chicago, Carrie Underwood and Alanis Morissette, among others, Mt. Prospect native (and former paint salesman) Lee DeWyze beat Crystal "Mama Sox" Bowersox en route to becoming the new "American Idol" Wednesday night.

"I am so happy," a stunned and clearly shocked DeWyze said. "This is the happiest day of my life! This is so amazing!"

Had the producers saved Simon Cowell's big farewell bash for another day it would have made for a much more amazing finale, but whatever.

Personally? I think Casey James would have been a better (i.e. hotter) "American Idol," but then the dude kinda gave up towards the end…oh, around the time Harry Connick Jr. showed up to give Lee a helping hand. THAT was Lee's turning point, y'all. Simon Cowell also gave our boy Lee a huge, huge hand when he handpicked "Hallelujah" (originally recorded by Leonard Cohen) for Lee to sing last week, a move that I believe swayed all of Casey's fans to vote for (you guessed it) Lee. Ah well.

And don't even get me started on why Crystal didn't win it all in the end…after having DOMINATED THE SHOW FROM THE START. Who votes for these losers, anyway? I am too old for this shit. Clearly.

What are your thoughts? Is Lee destined for glory or doom? As the runner-up, is Crystal bound for stardom or home sweet home?

I agree....It is the second year in a row that the best singer lost. Kinda takes away from the show. Krystle was hands down the best there. End of story. Lee is ok....but he will fade off soon.
