From movie star to burglar

Yesterday, Randy Quaid and his wife Evi Quaid were arrested again, this time for burglary. A Santa Barbara homeowner called the police to say that Quaid and his wife were illegally squatting in his guesthouse. The Quaids were charged with felony residential burglary and entering a noncommercial building without consent, a misdemeanor. Evi was given the additional charge of resisting arrest. The home, which the Quaids had owned the home years before, was trashed by the couple and the reportedly caused $5,000 in damage.

When the police arrived, the Quaids claimed they owned the home but the homeowners provided documents that showed they purchased the home and guesthouse back in 2007.

The Quaids first made headlines when they were originally arrested last year on charges of defrauding a Montecito innkeeper of more than $10,000. During one of their court appearances, Quaid actually brought his Golden Globe award with him. The judge did not find it cute. After paying the $10,000 bill, Evi was given three years probation and community service while charges were dropped against Randy.

Fifty-nine-year-old Quaid is the older brother of fellow actor Dennis Quaid and has appeared in a dozens of films but is best known for his role as Cousin Eddie in the National Lampoon's Vacation movies, as well as Kingpin and Brokeback Mountain.
