Oh dear. Bristol Palin was praised for showing some personality while performing her "redemption" jive with Mark Ballas – meaning – well, could it mean that she could actually win this thing?
Becoming a Dancing with the Stars champ is not unlike winning the senior class presidency in high school. The win rarely has less do to with talent and more to do with popularity. And, it seems, Bristol Palin has a huge following, edging out Brandy Norwood last week, which sent shockwaves through pretty much everyone's televisions. During this week's finals, judge Carrie Ann Inaba also praised Palin for her cage dancing. Yes, cage dancing.
So before the Mirrorball trophy gets handed over next week, each finalist has to perform four dances. Tonight, there was the redemption dance and the freestyle routine. Even though Jennifer Grey danced her redemption Paso Doble and earned a perfect score, there are rumblings that Palin could totally take this dance competition. Jennifer had a perfect night – earning a combined 60/60 for both dances.
Kyle Massey performed a freestyle hip-hop dance channeling the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and earned a cool 56/60. Bristol in the meantime, earned a spot at the bottom of the leaderboard with 52/60 and freestyled to "Cell Block Tango" from the Broadway musical "Chicago." Although she got rave reviews for her redemption jive, judges were not keen on her freestyle.

"I have so many good memories from this competition," Bristol said after learning of her second place finish. "It's definitely been such a life0changing experience. I've definitely had the time of my life."
On Monday's finales, all three couples danced for redemption by re-choreographing and doing a previously performed dance chosen by the judges, hoping to earn a better score. Each couple also performed the a freestyle dance, where for once, lifts were allowed.
Tonight, the three couples danced the cha cha which were given the following scores from the judges: Kyle, 28; Jennifer, 28, and Bristol, 27. However, Grey, who was favorite to win in the Bodog Sportsbook from the beginning, also won over the viewers and was crowned the winner.
Grey, who complained that she had been diagnosed with a slipped disc but she told host Tom Bergeron that a doctor had "fixed me up and did his magic" (whatever that means) and was not even sure weather she'd be able to perform. After her win was announced, 50-year-old Grey said, "I didn't think I was going to compete tonight—and I'm really glad I did!"
Other show highlights included The Situation's dance to "I'm Too Sexy" as well as David Hasselhoff's Baywatch-themed routine. Christina Aguilera performed a routine inspired from her new film, Burlesque and also sang her hit, "Beautiful." Meanwhile, Audrina Patridge, who had come down with the flu, as well as Michael Bolton, who got into a scandalous scuffle with judge Bruno Tonioli, were no-shows.
At the conclusion of the live finale, Grey danced with the trophy before she and her partner Derek Hough were hoisted in the air by their fellow contestants.
All eyes were on Bristol Palin tonight. Would she become the biggest upset in Dancing with the Stars history? Well, my friends, the answer is no. As judge Len Goodman put it, the final three contenders, Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin were in a "brawl for the mirrorball," but Jennifer Grey prevailed.

Even the judges started believing that hype.
Len cracked under the pressure.
Glad to see that Jeniffer won.
Well done, Kyle and Bristol.
It's funny the underdogs always get the votes in these shows.
