Barney Frank Gambling Bill Approved

Reply Subscribe
Barney Frank has been working hard and that is good news for all online poker players. He has succeeded on the first level. On Tuesday the House Financial Services Committee approved a new Bill that would help clarify the UIGEA. The Bill was a cleaned up version of one that was defeated a few short months ago.

Congress is moving closer to passing legislation that will relieve U.S financial services companies from implementing bans on Internet gambling.

The Payments System Protection Act (H.R. 6870) was approved by the House Committee on Financial Services this week and appears headed for a possible vote by the full House next week.

A Bill was supposed to be voted on this week in the House of Representatives that, if approved, would have forced the government to make a list of what is, or is not, legal as far as online gambling goes.

The Bill passed the House Finance Committee last week after being revamped from a few months earlier. The original Bill was defeated in the Committee, but the new revised edition passed overwhelmingly.

The full House was supposed to vote on the Bill this week, but the current state of Wall Street has taken precedent. That leaves Frank's Bill to be in waiting until the new year.
