Anyone still using XPPro?

I still love XP pro.
The problem is:
XP is getting very slow.
It seems that I have to click on things twice to make them work.
It seems that every update slows me down just a little bit more.

I don't want Vista. Media player 11 is bad news
Media player 10 works just fine, but they won't leave it alone.

Media player 12 I can't get without Windows7.

I guess, i'll be the only one looking for updates long after XP has expired. :crying
Mr. Gates please come home. :helpme

as far as Win7 goes, I havent used it
so I cannot comment about that version

but XP
to me had to be the best Windows version

but I dont use all the programs they offer

I have found better alternatives to utilize
going thru one after another
til I found one that suits me best

without getting into big details
the packages of different tools & programs Windows offers
are pretty generic & don't offer alotta options

but w/that said
they dont really know
which ones you'll use alot
or
not use at all

but the OS, is open to accept many other programs[/FONT]

I'm using winXP pro with no problems on a five year old computer. I use a group of free utilities to keep the registry free of bloat, defrag the hard drive, reduce duplicate files and delete programs I no longer use. I also maxed out the RAM. My computer runs the poker software just fine, IF I "maintain" the software.

Winxp pro, is that like a system optimizer ? Just wondering, have not heard of it before, or I do but it's 7-8 years ago. Forgetting about things you dont use on a regular basis tend to disappear from the surface 😁

Im not very happy installing new programs that I dont feel I need 100%. Trying to keep things as fast as possible and clean. But doing regular defrags and cleanouts though.

Installed the system on a 10K rpm disk so it runs pretty smooth and its worth the extra bucks.

ix_man are you running windows xp 64 ?

windows xp 32-bit usually starts to slow down after some time of usage but windows xp 64-bit is still fast and this computer have not had a format c:/ for over a year. When I was on xp 32-bit after a few months I was literally forced to format the hard drive, there's was no chance to get the system optimized and feel it made some improvements.

He's talking about Windows XP Professional, the Microsoft computer operating system. I'm still using it and it is a very stable system compared to earlier versions of Windows.

Windows 7 is just a cleaner version of Vista. I purchased a computer early in 2010 and it came with an upgrade to 7. It took a long time for the disc to come to my address. It came with a few features that differ from Vista. Window XP is still being used world wide, and the updates are getting few and far between. X

Last reinstall was 2005 because I replaced the MB.
Drives are at least 8 years old.
I still get by on 1GB of ram.
CPU is AMD running at a pseudo 64 not sure of how real it is but it runs faster.
I do registry clean ups with MAX Registry Cleaner, Virus checks and defag's
It's definitely a stable system.

Oh, I still have a working windows 95 system, not a poker computer, I can only use it as "third backup" for files small enough.

I don't need no stinkin' Vista or 7.
The reason for the post in the first place was I read that MS was going to stop updates for XP. Maybe in the next 2 years.
